So I'm going to take this and go out on a limb to try to project the preseason SEC team projections:

1. Kentucky
2. Tennessee
3. Auburn
4. LSU
5. Florida
6. Mississippi St.
7. Texas A&M
8. Vanderbilt
9. Arkansas
10. Missouri
11. Alabama
12. S. Carolina
13. Georgia
14. Ole Miss

Thoughts?

First thought looking at your list was (pains me to say) 'bama too low'. But after looking, I'm not sure who I'd put them above. SEC could be the best it's been in MBB next year across the board.

We'll improve and move down. SEC has definitely become a great basketball conference

I'd probably have us above Arkansas and Texas A&M, and maybe Vanderbilt (especially with Shittu out half the season and the hazy proposition of just jumping into conference play with no games under his belt) (all assuming Sexton does not return). But, those are all toss ups really (especially Arkansas/Vandy). Somewhere between #7-10 makes sense probably.

If Sexton somehow returns, we're a Top 5 team in the league. But clearly that is a longshot.

It is wild that you can make a legitimate argument we should be the #11 preseason team in the league and I feel pretty decent about our squad AND wouldn't vehemently disagree with that ranking. What a league.

#WeComin

... though it appears the rest of y'all will be coming too. Gonna be a lot of competition for those top 4 seeds in Nashville.

Love how Bama isn't getting any consideration, despite returning everyone, except Sexton. I get Sexton is a lottery pick, but we still get Herb Jones, Ingram, Petty, Hall, Galin, and Reese. Then add a 3-point shooter like Mack. We'll have talent and experience from a team that made it to the 2nd round of the NCAAT.

I'd say Alabama may be about right for the preseason rankings--except maybe above Arky and Vandy -- if Sexton declares for the draft.

However:

1) there will be another logjam of teams around 9-9 next season where the difference between being #4 and #10 is perhaps 1 game.

2) some teams (like Alabama) with so many returning experienced players will do a couple of games better than expected and teams with superstar incoming freshmen will do a couple of games worse than many predicted (like Alabama/Missouri this past season)

It's going to be as good as any as major roster moves will happen in the next month and the coming months after people adding transfers and whatnot.

LSU being ranked is laughable.

You guys finished tied for 9th this year and are losing by far your best player. It's not really a knock on Bama, but more the majority of the league is expected to be very good this year.

1. Tennessee
2. Auburn
3. Kentucky
4. Mississippi State
5. LSU
6. Florida
7. Texas A&M
8. Alabama
9. Vanderbilt
10. Arkansas
11. Georgia
12. Missouri
13. South Carolina
14. Ole Miss

Bringing in Top 5 class, really not losing much either. Wade primed to make a big move next season

Because Hall is the only one of those players that is a clear above average SEC player

Not sure why Bama has a very inflated opinion about their secondary players. They did not show much to suggest they will be difference makers next season
