It’s not NFL with amateurs, it’s minor league pros now. Teams wearing school name but not really students. Just hired mercenaries.

This is part of the March to corporateness and blandness in college football. Much like how the NFL has been for 10-20 years now.

Bingo. I hope Arkansas gets culled in the next go round of "expansion" so we can get out before it becomes totally sterile. I'm going to enjoy the super leagues and expanded playoff while I can though.

Hopefully when it goes to a 32 team NFL jr in another 5-10 years all the other schools can regain some of the charm and fun the old college football had. I think they should band together and form their own premium streaming service to make sure ESPN doesn't see a dime.

Yes, they have. I've been involved in a few payments or two. However, the portal, NIL, and now "super" conferences. Welcome to the NFL Junior League

I hope you like it. I will miss the days when CFB was unique - now it will be like every other sport. And yes, as someone who grew up playing baseball that sport was ruined years ago.

Frankly, it was over as we knew it in 1992 with the SECCG. Then it was over as we knew it when we went to the BCS formula to pick our winners. Then it was over as we knew it when college football went to the continues running 40-second clock. Which gave us the HUNH offensives. Then we went to a 4 team Playoff and the BCS era was over before it started.

College football has been dramatically changing since the forward pass.

Actually no. This is all a condition that has existed. We are already a super conference, have been when we added Aggies and mizzou.

That is exactly why I’m so thankful for 2019. That was the end of an era. Everything was bizarre just a couple of months later. LSU had the best season possible in the last season where college football still seemed like college football.

It is just a bunch of kids playing a game.

It’s a bunch of paid young men now. I’ll never see them as kids again.

Put me in the camp that thinks these changes will make the product better. The best teams should play each other every week. I don’t want to watch Florida vs FAU etc.

That may be true but as we get older they sure look like kids, don’t they?

The sport has to keep up. Interest is down and politicians were circling. Big changes were either going to be done voluntarily or were going to be forced onto the sport.

I don't think interest was down because of it not being corporatized enough. Hell, the gamedays whoring everything out to brands is part of what has caused interest to go down.

College football games used to be like big patriotic family get-togethers. Kids you knew played in the band and the band played songs, rather than rap and SHITTTT music being blasted over mega-speakers and tennis-court-sized TV screens screaming ads at every time out.

It used to be America, and collegiate, and simpler and more meaningful.

Now, its turned into everything else that is soul-less, bland, try-hard and meaningless.

Actually as somebody that remembers CFB before the advent of the playoff I mean exactly that. Once upon a time rivalries meant something, and so did Bowl games. I have been vehemently opposed to paying players with NIL or any other means - they get a free college education

The death of the NCAA is coming. The B1G and SEC are already significantly more powerful than the other conferences, and it will get worse. It won't be long until they can break off from the NCAA and form their own league. A league with free agency, open payment of players, etc ... sounds like the NFL to me. I will watch "my team" on TV from time to time, but all my donations will go to the University instead of the AD. I know a bunch of other old-school donors that feel the same way

Out with the old (me), and in with the new (sidewalk and the like).

I ‘member too. And I feel the same way. College football is dead. Welcome to NFL Lite.
