Just enjoy this ride now. At least it's a good time killer before this final normal season starts. Would've been nice for us to win something, but now that's never going to happen.

Truth. NCAA might be over as we know it too.

Its been over since the FL Big 3 fell off after making terrible hire after terrible hire. Then, the street agents selling FL recruits to Bama and a few others creating open season in FL.

Then TX (and CA) kids flocking to places like Columbus, OH and Tuscaloosa over Austin.

Etc, etc.

Clemson has really benefited from FSU and Miami being dumpster fires.

It may be time to find a new hobby. Between Sankey's power trip, and the NIL I may just tune in for the games on the field but nothing else.

Everything that made CFB special is now gone. It will be nothing but the NFL with amateurs from now on. The irony is that the NCAA brought about its own death

I think it is really over as well.

However, you never know what the future holds. I mean maybe SC can take advantage of the changing landscape.

But yeah, it feels like we are watching the last gasps of football the way we knew it.

You should watch Snakey. He has been adamant about his displeasure with the NCAA. I expect the B1G and SEC to start working together to form a new league, and the ACC will follow. The PAC? Who knows, football means nothing out West.

Within five years the money making teams will create a gap so wide and powerful that Snakey will have the means to split off from the NCAA. It honestly may be even sooner with NIL

Amateur athletics is already dead with the NIL. It is the next logical step

You’re right that It’s been over for FLA schools.

Texas began losing before they started losing recruits. They had their entire class committed by July each year and you couldn’t find anything less than a 4 Star. Mack Brown just lost his drive as a coach.

Look at it this way, every win you do manage to scratch out will be like an NFL win.

Every team, right now, is 0-0 in the new NFL Light. No one, right now, can shite on anyone.

It is just a bunch of kids playing a game.

I just don't understand all of the "sky is falling" talk. This will enhance college football. These big names have skated by for years in a two team league. Tex. and OU will only strengthen the SEC brand and they will now have a chance to show what kind of programs they actually have.

True, but they haven’t destroyed Pee Wee Football or Little League Baseball YET So we’ve still got that.

Those aren't amateurs. By the very definition of the word they can't be amateurs.

I feel like this will be like the playoff. Huge and exciting for just a few years then ultimately worse than before because it further smothers tradition and other components that make college football special.

This is part of the March to corporateness and blandness in college football. Much like how the NFL has been for 10-20 years now.

To compete, or compete at the highest levels anyway, the average parent has to spend thousands of dollars a year on their kid playing Little League Baseball. Some likely spend 10s of thousands. That's with little realistic hope of it actually ever being anything more than a hobby for young Jaxxton. It isn't about the game anymore.

They've already ruined Little League.

I get what you are saying.

I am loving some of those potential matchups if we add Texas and OU --- but it is more than that --- the Supreme Court rulings -- the superconferences --- it is fair to say that football as we knew it is on its last legs.

I think it is okay to be nostalgic about the end of an era while hopeful the new era might be exciting as well.

Actually as somebody that remembers CFB before the advent of the playoff I mean exactly that. Once upon a time rivalries meant something, and so did Bowl games. I have been vehemently opposed to paying players with NIL or any other means - they get a free college education

The death of the NCAA is coming. The B1G and SEC are already significantly more powerful than the other conferences, and it will get worse. It won't be long until they can break off from the NCAA and form their own league. A league with free agency, open payment of players, etc ... sounds like the NFL to me. I will watch "my team" on TV from time to time, but all my donations will go to the University instead of the AD. I know a bunch of other old-school donors that feel the same way

Out with the old (me), and in with the new (sidewalk and the like).

Please stop living in fantasy land. Payers have been paid my entire life, it’s just public now.
