The SEC gauntlet begins this weekend. So many good teams.
I finally got to watch us a bit this weekend. All of our other games were live stats only. From what I saw yesterday and Friday, it's going to be a really long year for us. Utah Valley was in every game and even won the first one in extra innings. They had what looked like pretty good pitching but bad hitting can make average pitching look like Cy Young. Not sure which it was. But, I don't expect to get many runs assuming Vandy has their typical pitching staff. I guess we will have to see how our pitching holds up.

Looks like if LSU can split 4 with USA/Mizzou they'll probably move into the Top 10. Impressive.

LSU has remained stagnant since the beginning of the year. Maybe you haven’t followed polls much, but you’re very rarely penalized for midweek losses if you win your series on the weekend. LSU went 3-2 for the week, lost on the road in the midweek, and won their series.

Cats and Hogs battling it out for the weekend. Hope we can get 2.

I'm hoping for 2 as well. Huge week for both of us with the NCAAT and a monster top 10 matchup in baseball. Kind of hate that I'll be in Hot Springs at Oaklawn watching the ponies run.

Honestly...any success MSU has this year on the diamond should be enjoyed.

That isn’t a knock on y’alls talent level. Just that losing the head coach suddenly after the first weekend is nearly impossible to overcome.

Y’all have a young team that I believe with more time spent together will get better. If y’all keep everyone this year, and add some decent guys next year, y’all will be a tough out. Not saying y’all aren’t now, just a young team trying to find their groove. No matter who the coach is, y’all always seem to find a way to produce good baseball play.

I'm sort of confused by these. Bama has had an impressive year so far and already at least 1 top 15 win, I think, and no rankings.

LSU splits with my high school and my wife's all girls school and they stay the same.

For the most part, at this point in the season you're only going to see movement in the polls when ranked teams drop weekend series. And teams that weren't receiving votes preseason aren't going to see much movement into the polls unless they take a series from a ranked team or if they start winning during SEC play.

Yes LSU is getting the benefit of the doubt because of who they are, but this is no different than prestigious football teams getting the same benefit of the doubt when they're scraping by bad football teams early on in the season. Baseball teams aren't punished for dropping one game in a 3 game series or losing in a midweek game. Pollsters know midweek games are used mostly as practices and teams aren't penalized for them accordingly.

It was far worse than that. This team basically had not practiced for a while, if you believe the rumors

Meh, we beat Southern Miss and a bunch of pretty bad teams. For us it's great, we were a bad team last year and lost these games.

However, for a team that was a disaster last year we've got a ways to go before proving we belong in anyone's Top 25/30.

NMSU was a very good offensive club. I think Bamas pitching staff keep them competitive.

I don't think LSU, Florida, FSU or anyone should get that benefit of the doubt. I would wait until this week to start rankings teams and do it solely based on performance this year. Each week I would start with a blank slate and rerank everyone based, again, solely on merit this year. I wouldn't worry about how much some moves up or down in a given week.

They scored 1 run in 27 innings against Texas Tech and Mississippi State.

They scored 24, 6, 13 against Towson; 39, 15, 20 against Mississippi Valley State; and 11, 11, 23 against Harvard.
