And gets a 250k bump each November. At this point he should be paying us.

I predict he does not get fired this year and maybe not next year.

What does it matter? They will just f*** up the hire for the next AD, and we will be bitching about that for 5 years.

Because a few of our social media guys post or lurk here. Everything we complain about in detail makes their post. At least they could call out these clowns.

INCORRECT
I'm sorry but it's worse than that. As of this month he enters year 5 of his contract and is making $2.1 million
Which is twice what he was making at MSU!!! He's played Auburn for a fool and is stealing every day he continues on payroll.

I’d rather have an intern from UGA or UAT run the AD than John The Fraud Cohen.

My feelings & opinions about Cohen’s performance & fitness for the position he holds notwithstanding…. I gotta play a bit of “Devil’s Advocate” on this particular take.

So the guy behind the wheel, responsible for steering & guiding our ENTIRE athletic department in whatever direction he guides us overall as an institution, pulls down $1.4 million/year?

Granted…pretty massive responsibility.

But, the one season QB we had just last year, now playing elsewhere, pulled down a comparable paycheck in his tenure here.

And our current QB this season, who most likely won’t be here next year either is also pulling down a comparable amount too?

The N.I.L. “Genie” is out of the bottle, and that f@#ker ain’t going back in.

N.I.L. went from “Zero”…to “Complete Clusterf@#k” in the blink of an eye.

When your AD is on the hot seat EVERY damn day, for every year in and year out of their out of their respective tenure, and they’re only getting paid roughly the equivalent of a one year “one & done” hired gun?…that’s most likely to whore out, move on, and take the next biggest payday…and walk away from the smoldering ruins of yet ANOTHER failed season in long succession of failed seasons…only to be replaced by the NEXT crap-shot hired gun?

I ain’t saying I want Cohen to continue on as AD?…but it’s a ridiculous disparity in pay compared to the overall responsibilities of his job vs a twenty-something kid who can LITERALLY quit and take his ball elsewhere for more $$ when things don’t go his way.

The dynamics of how CFB currently operates systemically is completely FUBAR’d

I don't thing that is out of line at all for the position. The AD is basically the CEO for a pretty big corporation type entity. $1.4MM might even be a little low. But, that is for someone that can handle the position and do a good job. I think Cohen has absolutely not done that. In that case, gotta go.

Please edit your title, everyone is responding and basing their opinion as if he's making two-thirds of what he's really pulling down. The full scope of his fraud needs to be known.
2.1 million!! and will go up another 125k every year he's retained.

^in summary, “market rate”

I’d trust a student volunteer more than Cohen.

This might come as a shock, but the 20-30 of us here in our little bubble of hate dont reflect the 3 million + fans. Even if it did... the only thing that forces changes in such positions is if the money gets affected. Football program is still making 120 mil a year and operates on a 60+ mil surplus. Don't hold your breath.

Athletic salaries are out of control, it is a house of cards.

The most current comprehensive list I found comes from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, updated in mid-September 2026, which compiled published reports and open-records data for all 16 SEC athletic directors. Figures are generally average annual pay over the life of each contract, with the contract end year in parentheses:

Rank Athletic Director School Annual Pay
1 Chris Del Conte Texas $3.5M (through 2036)
2 Trev Alberts Texas A&M $3.2M (through 2032)
3 J Batt Kentucky $3.0M (through 2032)
4 Danny White Tennessee $2.75M (through 2032, renews annually)
5 Jeremiah Donati South Carolina $2.15M (through 2031)
6 Greg Byrne Alabama $2.1M (through 2031)
7 Scott Stricklin Florida $2.075M (through 2030)
8 John Cohen Auburn $1.84M (through 2029)
9 (tie) Hunter Yurachek Arkansas $1.75M (through 2027)
9 (tie) Laird Veatch Missouri $1.75M (through 2029)
9 (tie) Josh Brooks Georgia $1.75M (through 2031)
12 (tie) Verge Ausberry LSU $1.6M (through 2030)
12 (tie) Keith Carter Ole Miss $1.6M (through 2029)
14 Zac Selmon Mississippi State $1.44M (through 2029)
15 Candice Storey Lee Vanderbilt $1.4M (through 2028)
16 Roger Denny Oklahoma $1.25M (through 2030)
