Texas A&M is better ON THE ROAD in the SEC than they are at Kyle Field since they joined the SEC.
Doesn't this prove Kyle Field is a tough pla e to play?

I'm sure Kyle Field was hell back in the 1980s but it's just not today. At all.
Texas A&M is 12-15 at Kyle Field in SEC play since they arrived in the conference.
Texas A&M is 18-16 away from Kyle Field in SEC play since they arrived in the conference.
Texas A&M is better ON THE ROAD in the SEC than they are at Kyle Field since they joined the SEC.
This is all true, and one of the rare times when A&M is riding the coattails of its past. When I was there, the place was deafening. My freshman year was 1985, and the Texas game that year literally had my ears ringing for almost 2 days. The Texas QB stood at the LOS for several minutes because he couldn't hear.
And that was back when the stadium only had 72,000 seats.
I also remember the week before the A&M game when I was getting my MBA at Texas. Walked outside from the B School one day to hear huge crowd noise being piped from the speakers at the stadium. They were trying to get the team ready for being in Kyle Field later that week.
Old Army is dead.

Yea I'm not trying to hate on A&M - and I remember as a kid watching games at Old Kyle and how loud and electric it seemed on TV. It just doesn't seem that way now and the record disparity is just so much.
I don't know if it's just a bad spell, the stadium getting too nice, random chance or what. It clearly used to be one of those places.

I never knew that Beaver Stadium was the name of the stadium located in Happy Valley.
Makes sense.
Makes sense.

When I say "Old Army is dead", that's a thing old Ags say that's just one of those "Back in my day..." things.
To me, Old Army died when Bonfire fell. From the outside, people usually don't understand that the burning was just the tip of the iceberg. Most visible part, but hides the full mass. Bonfire was a HUGE event for 2 months before it ever burned. Cut, Center Pole, Stack, and Push were mileposts of the fall semester. People would take study breaks at 2 am to go out and work on Bonfire. Dorms, frats, corps outfits, and just random groups would bond to each other and to A&M in the process. The culmination of the burn on campus was the payoff, but the stitching was done well before that.
There is an unofficial one done off campus now, but it will never be the same as a 10 story burn on campus.
When that was gone, a huge part of the spirit went with it. The kids today think it's still there, and it is compared to other schools, but not like when I was there.

I dont think you understand what "Toughest place to play" means. It's about crowd noise almost entirely.
It's not "Toughest team to play".

I think that is happening to varying degrees on all college campuses. Everything is becoming more generic and everyone is losing their uniqueness.
Places that had more of it to begin with are obviously suffering the most from that.

I believe LSU, but Michigan, should be above any of the others. Also I would bet teams like Bama and OU have the best home records of any teams over the last 15 years.

Bryant Denny is fine but we win everywhere, home and away. I don't think BDS has an extraordinary effect on many games.
But yea, our home records are pretty staggering
2008-2019
Alabama : 75-4 (95%)
Oklahoma : 61-8 (88%)
2013-2019
Alabama : 41-1 (98%)
Oklahoma : 34-5 (87%)
Current home win streaks
Alabama : 26 games (#1 longest)
Oklahoma : 10 games (#10 longest)

I cannot imagine the noise being as big a factor as the team.

Having a good team goes hand in hand with how loud it gets.
When lsu was losing to Troy it probably wasn’t a tough environment for them at the moment

Tiger Stadium = Bryant Denny West. We own that dump

Exactly, it's not about the Tigers, it's about the constant threat of whiskey bottles being hurled onto the field.

Yeah, Bahr said a lot of things that weren't true just to build up his opponents and motivate his team.

I don’t think being a tough place to play is limited to just wins and losses. I’m sure coaches could be thinking to frustrations communicating or penalties as a result of crowd noises.
