There are plenty of difficult road environments in college football, including many in the SEC. But which ones are the toughest?

On the “Campus Insiders” show on Stadium, a coaches poll of 130 FBS coaches revealed that two SEC teams were in the top five of most difficult stadium venues. LSU topped the list, followed by Clemson, Washington, Penn State and Texas A&M.

It’s no secret that these stadiums are at the top of the charts as Tiger Stadium has a capacity of more than 102,000 people, and is often even louder for night games. Kyle Field likewise is listed above 102,000.

Another day, another best Stadium win for the Tigers.

I'm sure Kyle Field was hell back in the 1980s but it's just not today. At all.

Texas A&M is 12-15 at Kyle Field in SEC play since they arrived in the conference.

Texas A&M is 18-16 away from Kyle Field in SEC play since they arrived in the conference.

Texas A&M is better ON THE ROAD in the SEC than they are at Kyle Field since they joined the SEC.

LSU's Tiger Stadium being a tough place to play is the biggest myth in the country. Followed closely by Ole Miss having the hottest girls.

After a while, it gets repeated so much that people just believe it and parrot it. Very sad.

Both those places are way overrated. The Swamp and Neyland in the 90s would leave your ears ringing for a week.

I don’t think being a tough place to play is limited to just wins and losses. I’m sure coaches could be thinking to frustrations communicating or penalties as a result of crowd noises.

Hard for me to give credence to a place being tough to play when there is a sustained, multi-year history of the team who calls it home posting better records away from it than when playing there.

It's just kind of a cliche at this point.

I don’t think the coaches lied about their experiences.

Perhaps, but this was all 130 coaches - I'm guessing there were quite a few rankings of places that coaches had never been because of reputation.

I have no problem with LSU being up high - the general record and the atmosphere in big games there are electric. A&M used to be that way, but it's just not anymore.

I mean for goodness sake A&M was down 2 TDs in the 2nd half last week and the place was 50% full.

I get what you are saying. I will say though that no one was even close to Tiger Stadium in this poll. That’s a bit more than just word of mouth IMO.

Yea I have no problem with LSU - big games in Tiger Stadium are awesome and it has more than earned it reputation.

You can thank that dead alcoholic coach y'all had since he said it and everything he said was gospel to Bama fans with their houndstooth hats, tattoos, etc. And he beat LSU like 99 times out of 100. He probably drank at the LSU tailgates when Bama played at LSU and was so drunk by the time the game started that he thought Bama was losing.

Exactly.

It is a true fact that coaches do not lie.
