why would Clemson care if Alabama-Clemson not even slotted to play again and Clemson went 1-1 against Howard and likely would have won last year if not for that onside kick play.

Howard had most of his yards this year on one 68 yard play. he had 4 catches total.

the 2nd leading receiver for Alabama Ridley only had 5 catches for 36 yards.

it is interesting that Howard seemed to have his best games against Clemson. i wonder if there is something about Venebles defensive scheme in general that is vulnerable against TEs. seem like other TEs have had better than average games against Clemson since Venebles came.

howard was wide open on most of his big plays last two years due to Clemson players confused about the play. howard himself wasn't making sensational catches if i recall correctly and he didn't really need speed b/c he was so wide open.

Kind of like saying Alabama likely would have won this year if.....?
You won this year. Period. Don't make yourself feel better by trying to claim two National Championships. Alabama could easily claim this years and leave you with none. Let's just give Alabama the 2016 Nattie, and leave Clemson with the 2017 Nattie. You know, the way the games actually turned out?

i am letting Alabama win two years ago. my point was their special teams play is the main reason they won two years ago, not Howard. i never said bama has to apologize for it or implied special teams isn't part of the game.

morever, Clemson winning this year after what happened last year made the win even more sweet. it is the greatest redemption story in sports history.

you have talking points. why is a UGA person getting up on a soapbox, what is UGA doing these days, and why do you need to white knight for Alabama. lol

Clemson did just fine with Howard on Alabama. I don't think Alabama is scared of Clemson....but I don't think Clemson is scared of Alabama, either.

ok so you don't think special teams was the main key to Bama's win two years ago. lol

bama had a crazy onside kick recovery in the 4th and a punt or kick return TD in the 4th. that is as good as it gets for special teams play.

should note that our stud NFL CB McKensie Alexander could not play in 2nd half due to injury. and obviously Mike Williams and Deon Cain didn't play in the game at WR.

o btw, Renfrow is still at Clemson. aka Alabama Slayer. lol he's not going to be in the NFL.

No. You couldn't stop us from scoring from 50 yards out four or five times. I lost count.

our defense won the majority of snaps against Alabama's offense. they did hit some big plays no doubt. some of that was McKensie unable to play in the 2nd half. our safeties were definitely confused on some of those plays.

alabama with that Elvis QB isn't going to beat Clemson with Watson and CLemson at full strength most of the time.

i think if you look at it, Alabama was much less conservative against Clemson in the passing game than they typically are. Saban doesn't go for that onside kick against SEC teams either because he isn't fearing their offense. So Saban was going out against his typical coaching philosphy against Clemson because of Clemson's talent.

as Dabo said last year, Bama won but so did Clemson's aggressive brand of play. Clemson beat Saban's process.

never denied that but doesn't mean they execute it. the kicker still has to place the ball right and the guy has to catch it. if it doesn't work out, you given Clemson good field position in a tied game in the 4th.

in my view, a kick should have to go farther than 10 yards, and it is weird that a kicking team can catch a ball that they kicked. possession is so important in football and this seems like a cheap way to get ball back.

pundits were saying Alabama would pistol whip Clemson before the game yet Saban is reduced to doing this kind of thing in the 4th quarter. lol

I am glad Mr. Watson is gone! Lol Guy tore us up.

Great games though. One came down to the final minutes and the other in to the final seconds. We need to meet again in the title game for the rubber match!
