eath Valley is in LSU. That can't even be argued. No one in the USA outside of SC thinks of Clemson as Death Valley.

it obviously can be argued . not everybody is a LSU or SEC fanboy like you. lol it is funny to me how how attached you are to a nickname for a stadium.

Death Valley makes more sense for Clemson given it is in a hilly area near the mountains and right next to a cemetery.

LSU's nickname originated as Deaf Valley, the name of a gas station near the stadium.

Google EDSBS and 8 Ball the Tiger and read Spencer Hall's columns on the subject. They are hilarious.

Why don't we just change the name of Clemson tigers to the Clemson Copycats. Seems fitting.

so Clemson's pre game tradition is a copy of another program's....

Clemson was nicknamed Death Valley a long time prior to LSU using it.

if Clemson copies Auburn, why no war eagle, or rolling trees after wins. those are the two biggest auburn traditions.

Who cares if Clemson was the first to call its stadium "Death Valley".... the issue everyone has is the notion of it being claimed as "Death Valley" in the first place.

It may have been "Death Valley" to FCS Presbyterian, but to everyone else, pretending Clemson's home stadium has been historically intimidating is a complete joke.

Well, it appears LSU will have an extra fan for two games then. I see them sweeping this two game series, Clemson is going to backslide a lot over the next few years.
If they don't chicken out of it, we are going to smack them around a couple times ourselves. Good times

this doesn't seem to be based on anything other than you don't like Clemson.

it seems more likely Clemson will be even stronger in 7 years.

Clemson's got the facilities, relatively warm winters, unique setting, good recruiting area, nice campus, etc. The biggest knock on Clemson in the past was the town didn't have much but the number of restaurants has probably tripled the past 20 years.

Are you sure no other coach had used All In? That's generic coachspeak. lol

Auburn wasn't the first program to have the tigers mascot. lol

Beats me. A couple of months ago it looked like a done deal, but this series came out of nowhere, and no talk of the UGA deal lately.

And yet, Clemson has twice as many National Championships as Georgia.
All those Georgia wins against Top 25 teams are probably better though, right? LOL.

Clemson won a title in 1981 and was one of the best programs in the 1980s.

Yes, Clemson was decent in the 1980s.... 10th that decade in AP Poll Points:

AP POLL POINTS 1980-1989
1. Nebraska- 190
2. Miami- 174
3. Michigan- 144
4. Oklahoma- 142
5. UCLA- 128
6. Penn State- 125
7. Auburn- 124
7. Florida State- 124
9. Georgia- 113
10. Clemson- 112
11. Alabama- 106
12. USC- 99
12. Ohio St.- 99
14. BYU- 85
15. SMU- 83

Outside of the the 1981 National Championship though, the success was really just semi-decent:

1982- #8
1983- #11
1984- NR
1985- NR
1986- #17
1987- #12
1988- #9
1989- #12

Again, not bad, but nothing fierce.

How so? I simply stated facts. Clemson has historically played a relatively weak SOS, evidenced by the very small number of big wins inside its home stadium.

My point is that at no point in Clemson's history did their home stadium warrant a nickname such as "Death Valley." Literally from 1936 up through 2008, Clemson only beat 9 teams inside that stadium that finished the season in the AP Top 25. What would ever make opponents fear something like that?

I think it has to do with size of the stadium, loud crowd, etc.

I've looked at LSU's record over the years, it doesn't look that stellar to me. i thought it would be a lot better given all the LSU hype.

your premise seems to be that if higher ranked teams came to Clemson in those years, Clemson would have lost. Good chance Clemson would have won 75 percent or more of those games though.
