I have to give them some semblance of respect for this.

Credit for playing 2, sorta

1 is a cross conference rival like UF, UGA, and UK so that is mandatory (no credit)

I do think the 2nd SEC team is usually respectable (where the credit is due)

More than most other non ACC schools, but still not like playing in the SEC and playing lots of good teams every season (especially the teams in the west currently)

On the flip side, if Taters just played SC every season would they get as good a treatment from the pollsters for playing these teams?

Furman (not P5)
Georgia Southern (not P5)
Georgia Tech (last MNC in 1990)
Syracuse (1 in 1959)
Wake Forest (no MNC's)
NC State (no MNC's)
Florida State (valid competition, 3 MNC's in 93', 99', and 13 - damnit Auburn)
Louisville (no MNC's)
Boston College (1 in 1940)
Duke (no MNC's)

So that is 1.5 teams to face with real MNC history.

Taters and Cocks both play TAMU this season, so a wash

Costal Carolina (not P5)
Georgia (2 MNC's, last in 1980)
Marshall (not P5)
Vanderbilt (no MNC's)
Kentucky (1 claimed under Bryant in the 1950's)
Missouri (1 claimed when KU had an ineligible player)
Tennessee (4 claimed, last in 1998 as BCS)
Ole Miss (2 claimed in 60's during civil rights)
Florida (3 claimed 1996 + 2 in BCS era - 2006 and 2008)
Chattanooga (not P5)

Cocks play the tougher schedule while Clemson has the luxury of the ACC.

if Clemson copies Auburn, why no war eagle, or rolling trees after wins. those are the two biggest auburn traditions.

I would say having the premier football trophy named after your former coach

I would also say winning

Add in the "Iron Bowl"

Add in bigger stadium

Add in vet school

Add in success in sports outside of football

etc
etc

i wouldn't use them to analzye this season's SOS. lol

you haven't watched much SEC football in recent years if you act a team like Tenn and Florida is amazing competition.

ACC is 24-20 against SEC last 4 years and 28-27 the past 5 years.

Granted, Clemson's success against SEC has a lot to do with that. lol

Whistling past the graveyard just shows your insecurity
(Well, that and college football did not really matter till a few years ago for Taters)

2017 Tennessee beat Georgia Tech
2016 Tennessee beat Virginia Tech
2015 No ACC opponent
2014 No ACC opponent
2013 No ACC opponent
2012 Tennessee beat NC State
2011 No ACC opponent
2010 No ACC opponent
2009 No ACC opponent
2008 Fat man's last season with the Vols

So, Vols are 3-0 vs the ACC for scheduled games after the fat man left...

gtech had a losing record in ACC last year and they really choked that game to Tenn. lol

that was the best G Tech's offense looked all year.

One death valley is named after a rock and the other is named after a stadium's noise and atmosphere!

Still trying to dig you way out

2017 Vols went 4-8
2017 Tech went 5-6, and might have gone 6-6 if no cancel

Game was in Atlanta (GT's home)

Vols sucked but they still beat tech in ATL

I especially like how you conveniently forgot the other 2 games.

:LOL, LOL, LOL:

Vols suck and they still go 3-0 vs the ACC

vols were decent the year they played Va Tech. 9 win team I think. that was their best team in a long time.

Va Tech was breaking in a new QB that year.

NCSU was probably mediocre and probably a losing record in ACC.

This year is a wash as far as schedule between Clemson and USC. USC plays more bottom feeders (7 teams outside of top 50), but goes against a likely top 15 team in UGA.

Look at the past 5 years and tell me who had the tougher schedule in the regular season. I can save you some time... It's been Clemson by a long shot.

Virginia Tech went 10-4
Played in the ACC championship game
Won their bowl game

Tennessee went 9-4
Vols did not make the SEC championship game
Won their bowl game

24 Virginia Tech
45 Tennessee

NC State went 7-6, but lost their bowl game
Tennessee went 5-7, no CCG, no bowl

SC plays the #2 and #3 ranked teams in the country. Clemson plays who now?

Based on preseason rankings this year its pretty much a wash. You have to face Clemson, so it makes things real tough for yall. Thankfully we get to play yall, so it makes it easier for us.

I will just have to keep posting my previous post until it sinks into Gamecock fans that their SOS the past three years has been garbage...

Strength of Schedule (Does not include playoffs)

2017
Clemson - 5
South Carolina - 52

2016
Clemson - 7
South Carolina - 66

2015
Clemson - 15
South Carolina - 44

it is weird how a person who didn't attend any college in SEC comes on here to tout ....Tenn.

The reality is Tenn has struggled in recent years which was my point. You were talking about past national titles won by Tenn as evidence the SEC schedule is tougher this year.

You can be a fan of the SEC and still admit the SEC especially the East has been down in recent years.

Death Valley is in LSU. That can't even be argued. No one in the USA outside of SC thinks of Clemson as Death Valley.

And please tell me that Clemson mascot isn't real. Those eyes are a joke.

ehhh
While in middle and high school in the early and mid 2000s, the Death Valley I knew was always Clemson. I didnt know LSU called Tiger Stadium "Death Valley" till around 2006-2008
