SA is a B school at best, AVG ACT scores they are reporting wouldn't get them into half of the SEC schools.
Do they have honor classes? Do yourself a favor and just to Heritage Academy.
I guess we all need tradesman though.

Lazy.
Starkville is a nice Southern college town that has made great strides over the past 2 decades. State is a baseball coaching destination. Cost of living in Starkville is much less than Chapel Hill.
And this is coming from an Ole Miss fan.

Had to take my kid to Starkville for a baseball tournament a few weeks ago. It has come a long way since 2005ish... But it still is a shite hole man.

They really ought to steal Missouri's head coach. I think he has learned from this years mistakes and is ready to take off at this level.

Think he remembers how to win?

quote:That's what I was thinking. Seems like MSU could get the best at coaching baseball, because you almost have to try not to have good players at MSU. Maybe get a hired gun recruiter at one of the assistant positions. IDK anything about MSU's pitching coach under Lamonis, but he wasn't struggling with a lack of good/great arms. They just seemed to throw too many bad pitches.
Getting baseball talent to Starkville has not been our problem.
The Bulldogs led all college programs with 11 players selected in the 2024 MLB Draft, headlined by switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje going No. 15 overall to the Seattle Mariners.

I'm not saying the guy can't coach - because he can - but looking at the Wiki page and the Beavers' roster I don't think Canham would be a good fit.
OP said the article is behind a pay wall so maybe they list some non-obvious reasons other than the Pac-12's situation for why he'd be interested, and why he'd be successful in Starkville.

"The whole "living in Starkville" thing is outdated"..... It's the truth though. Worse SEC town
Baton Rouge tho? Nah, frick that.

I say go get Mingione

He is a Dickhead. I know of 3 stories that he has gotten into it with opposing fans and/or players while an assistant at State. His teams play like he is a dickhead too.

The dude has always had that kind of weirdness about it, and the new one even more so. Cram a ton of people in the outfield and on grass berms or standing room only areas…. Only for the actual chair backs to be 50% capacity for about 90% of home games.
Take down the "no shirt, no shoes, no service" sign above the entrance to the chair backs. Just kidding, Swayze is like that too.

This comes from an LSU fan - take a hard look in the mirror at Baton Rouge and please get back to me.

We’re hiring a baseball Coach, not an interior designer.

Feel like it's gonna be hard to lure existing head coaches to Starkville in the new NIL era.

Swayze is the same way. At first pitch mayne 30% of the chairbacks will be full, even for a big series like an LSU or Tennessee or whatever.
Then they sell $5 Standing Room Only tickets and people just gravitate to the empty seats and keep shuffling around as people show up until they settle in. It's crazy to me how many people have season tickets and just don't show up for big SEC games.
By the third inning Swayze will finally look full.
