USC 04 was legit paying their players and still claim it. Until their is an agreed upon method and metrics for past championship, it is as legit as anyone else's claimed title.

Same as Texas and Michigan. The only metric for blue blood they use is beating pre segregation teams.

Auburn 04 would've lost to USC 04 by 3+ TD's. USC beat Auburn in both 2002 and 2003. Carroll coached circles around Tupperware, including a 23-0 drubbing just a year before 2004. Auburn was good in 2004, USC was better. I would bet a very large amount of money on that and win easily.

2019 LSU didn't even smash a hobbled Tua and 2019 Bama. Nice 5 point win. Followed by a 38 point horsefricking the very next season boy

If I were the AD of Tennessee, I would retroactively claim 8 extra national titles just to try and compensate for the last two decades in the wilderness.
You'd get a lot of shite for doing so upfront, sure, but in another 30 years it just becomes more or less accepted.

Exactly...the game is unchanged since 1950...right? The average offensive lineman in 1950 (in the NFL) was 6'2" and 234 pounds. The average FBS quarterback today is over 6'3" and 214 pounds. College quarterbacks today are nearly as big as professional Offensive linemen from that era.

Tennessee only has two legit titles. LSU has 5 but we don’t claim 1908 for whatever reason
