So we are just going to act like Texas wasn't the 2nd best program in college football behind USC for the 1st decade of the 2000's.

USC didn't win a BCS title. Texas won one BCS title and played for another in that decade.

LSU won two, Florida won two, tOSU won one and played for two more.

LSU's uncontested titles are 1958, 2003 and 2019.

You forgot 2007.

Here are the winningest P5 teams from 2000-09:

1. Texas: 110-19 (.853)
2. Oklahoma: 110-24 (.821)
t3. Southern California: 102-25 (.803)
t3. Ohio State: 102-25 (.803)
5. Florida: 100-30 (.769)
6. LSU: 99-31 (.762)
7. Georgia: 98-31 (.760)
8. Virginia Tech: 99-32 (.756)
9. Miami: 92-33 (.736)
10. Oregon: 87-38 (.696)

Texas may have only won one BCS title but they were tied for first in terms of overall wins and had the best overall winning percentage for the decade. That is why people still talk of Texas as if they are a blue blood. Sure...they don't have as many national championships as some of the others do, but they still win an impressive amount of games (the last decade not withstanding).

Meanwhile, Oklahoma has all the trophies. Texas struggles to know its place.

I think the fact that Texas was the winningest program of the 2000s but didn’t have the most national championships or Big 12 championships for the decade is just the weirdest thing.

Oklahoma is the better program. They always have been. Texas gets the notoriety because they are the bigger state and they funnel the most money into their program. But historically speaking, and into the present day, Oklahoma has the better program.

Up until recently I felt OU had the best argument against Alabama for the top program of all-time.

So UF won more games than any team in the SEC. Didn’t know that

I’m officially claiming 1960 for Mizzou. It’s perhaps the most compelling unclaimed title in college football.
