LSU - 1958, 2003, 2007, 2019

Tennessee - 1950, 1951, 1967, 1998

Florida - 1996, 2006, 2008

Ole Miss - 1959, 1960, 1962

Have we somehow decided that college football started in 1950?

We’ve certainly retired the SEC title as being anything of importance

I mean. If you go back far enough, the game was practically a different sport. Hell, go look at the rules for that 1869 Princeton/Rutgers game. A bit of a stretch to call that “football.”

So, to answer, yeah, I used a semi-arbitrary cut-off date. 1950 was the first year of the Coaches’ Poll.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to confuse football in the 1800s with the game even in the 1920s.

The AP poll goes back to 1936. And as a BAMA fan, I'm afraid I'm going to have to insist on our other 5 NCs. Semi-arbitrary or not.

Most Alabama fans are humble enough to say that 1941 was bullshite, but we rag on them for having a delusional athletic department that claims it. Tennessee claims 1950 and 1967. I say it’s only fair to rag on them too.

1950 is a decent starting point when talking about claimed national championships because that is the year the Coaches Poll started.

Like I said.

There’s a reason we don’t talk about Yale and Minnesota as football powerhouses anymore. And it seems like Tennessee’s and Nebraska’s blue blood statuses are on the way out as well.

Nebraska is on dubious ground right now unless they turn it around fast. Tennessee, however, was never a blue blood. Since the Poll Era began in 1936, Tennessee has only ever won a major poll national championship (AP or Coaches) twice - 1951 and 1998.

Aubbies always claim this one. You were on probation. Get over it.

1983 and 2004 were way more egregious.

Michigan is too as the last 2 NC they won is 1948, and 1997
