Waste of money. They won’t win a NC, and probably won’t win their conference. In a couple of years, they’ll go back to winning 7-8 games

In fairness, this is the closest Indiana is going to get. They may as well give it everything they have.

Building his own legacy at 65.

Hoosiers have $ and Mark Cuban is sports oriented and the face of their NIL

The B1G conference is not deep, so he has an easier path to the playoffs.

Leave for what.

Now the 3rd highest paid coach in the country, lol.

College football is such a wild business.

$11.6 million per year would make him the highest paid coach in college football wouldn’t it? Or at least the second highest paid

Anyone explain why Indiana is investing to this degree in football?

A good season and now willing to make their guy the second highest paid coach in the land?

It’s very Aggie of them. Difference is our desperation to win is well established over decades of caring way too much.

It's called striking when the iron is hot. Every school has boosters you don't know about that is willing to stroke checks when the program is hot.

NIL has changed the game.

Because they fricked up the entire market doing so. Case in point: right here.

If he went to Penn St. he would be guaranteed just as much if not more and have a chance to win a natty.

Nothing is guaranteed in life. He could have back-to-back shitty seasons at Indiana and they could fire his arse.

Lot of haters in this thread. Great move by both parties. If he stays there 5-7 years he will have done wonders for Indiana's football reputation.

They have the most losses in FBS history. I think we all would double down on present success if in the same boat. Got money, will spend.

They didn't waste years and many millions of dollars on Jimbo Fisher though.

Second good season in a row.

But the eye test is that they aren’t winning with flash and flukes. He just went to Oregon and bullied Dan Lanning.

And a Top 5 coach in the country costs that much money.

He is older, so it’s his legacy and last stop.

He's got a better shot at a natty at Indiana, this year.

This is a new era. You no longer have to be at a storied program to win. You just need money, patience, and a skilled roster builder.

2 years at IU. Good QB in yr 1. Great QB in year 2.

Rest of his career at non D1 schools and JMU.

No track record at P5 school with average QB.

History says IU overpaid here.

Winning 7-8 games a year is a golden age given Indiana's football history
