re: Chips are down: Why is TTU dug in when they are clearly on the wrong side of history?

Go watch the 2024 Cincinnati vs WVU highlights on YouTube. He committed two turnovers in that game that are so bad that either he sucks beyond belief under pressure and not worth what they paid for him....or he was on the take in that game. On one he tossed the ball underhanded to a wide open WVU corner standing 10 yards or so in front of him for a pick six. Then he threw the ball backwards on another turnover.

Wait until some judge says the Big-12 can not kick them out. Claim the Big-12 is a cartel which opens the door to all college sports conferences being broken up including the SEC and B10.
I can see it now: Dear LSU, I am WVU and do you want to play us next year....we have a bunch of open spots. The court in Waco said we have to play schools not in our own conference. I see you have a five open spots after some court in Michigan broke up the SEC. Do you want to play, Signed Wren Baker

If the Playoff Committee put them in then we need to get rid of the playoff committee. As I understand the Big-12 conference can do something about TT with a super majority of the members voting.
Also lets say the NCAA and the Big-12 can't do anything because of the courts, the SEC and B10 can step up to the plate and show how much power they claim to have:
1. by forcing the playoff committee to not allow TT into the playoffs. if they let him on the team.
2..The playoff committee must not punish any Big-12 school for refusing to play TT
I am sure TT can sue over that too, but someone has to say enough. If we allow this College Football as a sport is doomed.

re: FBS coaches want 24 teams and an end to conference title games…

Makes sense under the current circumstances. There are obvious reasons like money and coaches wanting to keep their jobs. However, there are less obvious reasons like for example the relationship ESPN has with the Playoffs and the SEC. It opens the door to lawsuits over cartel like behavior, etc. That in turn could lead to the courts doing all sorts of stuff we don't like. I think some people in power in college football are starting to realize it is better to make everyone happy rather than give some Ivy League educated judges the power to decide the fate of College Football. So the seventh best SEC team gets in along with a ranked G5 school.

Even without the gambling problem, LSU and everyone else, still dodged a bullet. He never played well in big games.
He sucked so bad against WVU in 2024 that he nearly saved Neal Brown from getting fired. However it does make you wonder....did he really suck in that game so bad or did he go full Black Sox.

Most universities get federal money and therefore get federal intervention. Also schools play teams across state lines which again allows the feds to get involved. So if you want the feds not be involved tell Ohio State or Michigan or Texas to stop taking federal money for research, grants, etc.
re: When will CFB collapse?
Posted by JeniverJonez on 1/15/26 at 12:27 am to TigersHuskers
It will collapse if the SEC or B1G try to breakaway. but leave too many teams outside their new super league causing those schools to kick start antitrust lawsuits. Nothing ever good happens when CFB ends up in a courtroom so we can assume the court will rule the super league as a "cartel", Heck they might even rule that all college sports conferences are cartels.
Everyone will be an independent and Notre Dame will at last have their revenge.
Now of course the SEC and B1G could use some intelligence and make sure any school not in the SEC/B1G that has a reasonable large college football fanbase and history will be invited into the new super league. But does anyone think that will happen? Considering the SEC and B1G can't even agree on a playoff format, we may have two super leagues that refuse to play each other and both will still find a way to get sued.

I agree on QBs, but disagree on RBs. It is the easiest position to learn and evaluate. I have seen plenty of freshmen RBs light up college football over the years. You can get 2 or more from high school for the price of one transfer. Save the money for a really good QB or DE, etc.

High School players are cheaper overall. One alternative strategy is to sign 40 high school kids and then find 10-15 high end transfers out of portal. Some successful NFL teams do this with the draft. Then cut the previous years recruits who don't workout and keep the ones that do. It is a ruthless strategy, but it is a option for some teams.
Basically you only really need 53 players or so. Like the NFL. So spend most of your money on the 44 or so best players. The rest are projects and cannon fodder for practice.

Oregon is a team with lots of Jimmy's and Joe's who get too many backrubs, foot massages, and pretty color coordinated pedicures.
Somewhere Vince Lombardi approves a yearly arse whopping for a team like that.

If I was Indiana I will tell their QB not to run it again the rest of this game.
However, I admit, it would be funny if they ran up the score in Oregon.

Indiana has 719 defeats in their history and a win percentage of .425.
B1G Money or no money, I don't think I have ever seen or even heard of a turn around like this. Snyder at Kansas St. is one example, but this is well beyond that.
Indiana really was a historically bad team, I mean really bad. Now they look like they are going to win it all.
