Wasn't Charlie just rejoining Gator Nation like two weeks ago?

He was apparently offered an analyst role but hadn't accepted.

Quite a few of you guys have been talking about Charlie Strong popping up in Tuscaloosa. While we have not confirmed it's a done deal, we expect Strong to join the Alabama football staff in an off-the-field role. The former Louisville, Texas and USF head coach brings a wealth of defensive knowledge to the program. (TWatts)

I thought Coach Sabah was a defensive gEnIuS?

His defenses have shut you out 3 times, twice in your own stadium, and LSU averaged 9 points a game against his defenses over 8 years.

Relax Bill, and rest assured no one will ever make the mistake of confusing you for a genius.

Yep. Don't think the Golding/Kelly experiment worked out too well. Strong would be a clear upgrade.

Probably looking at analyst for at least a year, though.

Awesome dude and would love for him to land on his feet somewhere in an analyst or coordinator role.

His head coaching record was what it was, but the dude was a maniac on the recruiting trail and was a stud recruiting the Florida area during his time at UF and Louisville (and at least was valiantly attempted his first class at Texas)

Nah, his position is safe. Charlie will do actually gameplanning and prep work. Butch will continue to wash cars and make schedules.

C'mon bruh... Texas gave him a shot, it unfortunately didn't work out, and both sides moved on. Texas is already entering year 4 with his replacement.

Time to let go, move on and wish him the best.

Given his embattled follow up at USF, I'd say it's gonna be a few years until he's considered for a HC gig anyway

Saban is the rehab of college coaching. He’s the only guy that takes burnouts and turns them into desired P5 coaches after a year or two. It’s incredible. He should be negotiating to receive a portion of the contract they sign after leaving. Strong has burned out and we all know he will be an SEC head coach in three years. I could see Vandy hiring him after 1 year in the Saban rehabilitation program.

They did but to be fair all of that was before we had in offense beyond the 1970s. When we actually got a modern offense how many did you hold us to?
Also don't pretend like you guys haven't been bitching about the porous defense the last 3 years.

I think we all know Alabama isn't losing to Auburn in Tuscaloosa the same way we all know Alabama is losing to Auburn in Auburn when Auburn has a halfway decent team.
