Even if you hate aub, you kinda have to tip the cap. Remaining that competitive vs a blue blood like (and arguably the blueblood) Alabama while having to reside in the same state and compete for recruits is impressive.

Considering the 45 to 3 style beatdowns Spurrier used to lay on us annually, I'm surprised to see the UF/LSU rivalry numbers as close as they are.
Well we were average at best before Spurrier. Even then though it was only 18-15 in favor of LSU. I think we started playing annually in 1971.

This is interesting because it tells me it AU has gradually given up a solid lead in the UGA rivalry for the last 38 years...
That's depressing...

Georgia took control of the series beginning in 2006 it seems.
The series seems to have long stretches with one team mostly in command.
1892-1919: Auburn goes 13-7-4 (62.5%)
1920-1952: Georgia goes 22-8-2 (71.9%)
1953-2005: Auburn goes 32-19-2 (62.3%)
2006-2017: Georgia has gone 10-3 (76.9%)
All of this put together results in Georgia leading 58-56-8
Auburn's largest lead ever in the series was by 5 games.... they hit that lead three times: In 1922, 2001 and in 2005.
Georgia's largest lead ever in the series came in 1952 when it led by 8 games, 29-21-6.
During the entire 126 years of the series, the overall series record has stayed within one team having a 3-game lead or less for 97 of those years. With the game in Athens this season, Georgia has a chance to push its lead to 3 games, which would be the first time we have had a lead in the series that large since 1982.

This is a good point. Based on this data and the fact LSU fans state that th TN game is not a rivalry then why do they insist Bama LSU is a rivalry and create a thousand off season threads about it.

I think most fans would like to hang on to rivalries. It was a shame when Nebraska vs. Oklahoma stopped playing.... it was silly for Notre Dame-Michigan to take a break.... and its also a shame Auburn no longer plays Tennessee and Florida annually.
But when a "rivalry" continues to be played but most of the games are lopsided and meaningless, its a different story.
There was a time when Michigan vs. Minnesota and Notre Dame vs. Army were some of the biggest games of the year in all of college football..... those games are still played today, only no one cares about them.
I'm not sure UT-AL is quite there yet, but its certainly trending that direction.
Even though it's much too early to give up on this rivalry, we certainly need to keep any eye on the trend and if it continues after Saban leaves, maybe a change would be in order.
Having said this, I've got to say that I remember when Tennessee and Georgia Tech were our big games!

All this proves is what we already knew.
Auburn is the only program with consistently big enough balls to stand up to the REC.
All other rivalries are irrelevant.
Auburn doesn’t give UGA the attention they deserve because they’re looking ahead to the Iron Bowl.

We don't give a damn about the competetivness. Bama has 2 rivals. Bama and Tennessee.
This guy gets it. We have one rival. There are other wannabes but at the end of the regular season there’s one game that matters way more than any other. There’s only one loss we can’t live with for a year.

Auburn is more dangerous when we all expect them to be an also ran. That's when we'll all be sitting here in early November looking at a 9-0 Auburn team wondering how the frick they're even in the division race. Forget the Buffalo Bills. No one circles the wagons like the Plainsmen from Lee County.
Guaranteed the older AU fans here would be more nervous with a Top 3 preseason ranking than if they were unranked.

That is true but most of the Shug AU fans are dying off and the fan base is left with Dye and post Dye fans which are a completely different type of AU fan. They expect to win always regardless.

Yet nothing about TSIO was said when TN was winning all the time.
