SO MANY FLAWS with this proposal.
1. This proposal assumes that the following schools will be thrown out of the Power Conferences.
-Baylor
-Rutgers
-Wake Forest
2. This proposal assumes that the following schools bring anything to the table besides the occasional football success.
-Boise State
-BYU
-UCF
3. This proposal assumes that Maryland will voluntarily rejoin a conference that they left to get away from the influence of North Carolina.
4. This proposal assumes that the PAC will allow schools like Boise State, Texas Tech and TCU that drastically reduce their academic profile.
5. This proposal completely ignores how badly Texas poisoned the well with almost everyone and incorrectly assumes that the SEC is just going to ignore the 1-state, 1-school pact established with the first round of expansion in 1992.
6. This proposal assumes that the Big 12 is going to be the conference that folds and not the PAC 12.
7. This proposal somehow ignores basic geography. Durham, NC (Duke) is literally 20 miles SOUTHWEST of Raleigh (N.C. State) and 15 miles SOUTHWEST of Chapel Hill (UNC) yet somehow they are NORTH? Palo Alto, CA (Stanford) and Berkely, CA (Cal) are technically north of both Boulder, CO (Colorado) and Salt Lake City, UT (Utah), yet they are in the SOUTH while CU is in the NORTH?

Great points. Only quibble I have is that I think the Big 12 would fold before the Pac 12.

I like their SEC and Big 16. However, I would arrange my ACC and PAC conferences differently:
PAC West:
WAZZOU
Washington
Oregon
Oregon St
Cal
Stanford
USC
UCLA
PAC East:
Arizona
Arizona St
Colorado
Utah
BYU
Texas Tech
TCU
Baylor
ACC North:
Boston College
Syracuse
Maryland
Pitt
West Virginia
Louisville
Notre Dame
Miami
ACC South:
Virginia
V-Tech
North Carolina
NC St
Duke
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Florida St
This arrangement keeps all current P5 teams except Rutgers and Wake Forest which I think we can all live without. It would suck to lose Boise St, though.

10 years ago I would have agreed with you.
Today, not so much.

Can we stop trying to “fix” college football. It seems like people want to turn it into a mini nfl. It’s been great for 150 years because of its quirks and weirdness. Stop trying to change it! It’s already beloved and incredible! Tampering with it will only kill it in the long run.
ETA: id much rather play auburn and Alabama every year than OSU, UT, and OU. The regional rivalries are what make the sport great.

Not a new idea. But at least we get rid of Missouri

We played 4 of them last year anyway. Point taken. Any additions to the conference though would have to keep the divisions balanced.

Do they really count though?
They did put up a good fight in 2017.
That's the only year they stayed within a score of the winning team. Alabama beat them by 11 (with a TD with less than 2 minutes left), Clemson beat them by 20 (and held them scoreless for the second half), and LSU beat them by 35 (despite basically chilling out the entire second half). They've only given up less than 40 points once. Their defense has been so bad that the 63 scored by LSU only rose their defense's PPG from 45.3 to 49.8.

You must think we're heartbroken over this.

While we are at it, let’s go ahead and add Sewanee to the SEC and kick out Oklahoma State.
Replace UCF in the ACC with Cumberland. We deserve a second chance to prove it wasn’t a fluke.

Kansas State would never be admitted to the Big X. Notre Dame would never join the ACC and Maryland would never be readmitted. The PAC would never take BYU. List is shite.

That proposed SEC East is ridiculously unfair compared to every other division.

I'd rather not take in Texas, but it is a cool idea.

Trouble with that is...WILL divisions still exist? Think about the scheduling required.
Posted on 7/20/20 at 4:44 pm to Bayou_Tiger_225
Will East & West divisions exist under that #?

The reality is people want uniform conferences & settle the "Who is better?" on the field... where it matters.
It's like my irritation that all MLB fields aren't identical in size (like it is for all other sports).
