Yeah, EVERYONE would pick 1 title @ 15-0 than like 6 titles at X-1, whatever helps you sleep at night chief.

Well duh

For a school like LSU the 15-0 is quite special though

If the choice is between "having one really successful year that everyone remembers" and "having so many successful years that no one really remembers exactly which years you won it all anymore" I'll take option B all day and every day.

I can hope that long after I have forgotten everything the loved ones left around me will continue to play the 1993 Sugar Bowl for me to enjoy.

Remember the Prothro catch behind the back against Southern Miss? Everyone does. Because it was surrounded with so much suckage.

Hell these days I forget about better plays, individual performances, and even some players. It's all been a blur.

LSU 2020 will be what’s remembered. The greatest drop off in CFB history

Who is remembered more Kim Carne's, who had one top hit of the 80s, or bands like Motley Crue, Def Leppard, and Guns N Roses, who had many more memorable songs and weren't one hit wonders?

At least use the same genre of music. I'd have gone with Whitesnake and their hit over Kim Carnes. Here I Go Again is much closer in style to Sweet Child O' Mine than Bette Davis Eyes.

Assuming this is an honest question....in 20 years +, the world will look back on the past decade and marvel on the streak and domination one team had over the college football world. They will wonder how Alabama managed to get so far ahead of everybody else. They will then talk about the domination LSU had in 2019.

No offense to LSU is intended, but people remember sustained success much better than success for a single year.

I'm sure during Bear Bryant's career, some team came up and won big for a year, but I can't think off the top of my head who. I do remember Bear Bryant dominating, though.

Again....LSU had a great year, and should be proud of it, though. I wish we could have a season like that.

Gus isn’t done with Saban yet but for the most part, yeah, Alabama dominates everybody.

Just doesn’t dominate everybody as much as they dominate Georgia. Poor Georgia...they thought they were being smart this year and decided they didn’t want to play Bama again.

Now they are about to watch the whiniest coach ever in Dan Mullen bitch and cry about Covid and squirm his way into a co championship and a playoff berth.

frick LSU while I’m at it. Sorry if I left anybody off.

You're worse on this board than the more sports board. Go be gay somewhere else.

Bear is before my time but it seems like he would’ve crushed it nearly anywhere

Bear took A&M from losing squad to cusp of a national title (Junction Boys). He also took Kentucky to national title worthiness by only losing one game and then beating Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl (OU had already been awarded the title back then).

Kentucky was never going to be a perennial power because of a lack of commitment to football. A&M he likely would have won a couple - hell, he probably wins one his last season there if someone hadn't given away that he was leaving for Alabama.

I used Kim Carne for emphasis. I debated using the actual #1 song of the 80s, "Physical", but Olivia Newton John is hot, and she had a number of other hits.
For a truer comparison to Kim Carnes, I probably should have picked Whitney Houston and Madonna.

I think you are right about people looking back at Alabama, but they will also look at Florida 2008, Auburn 2010, and LSU 2019 due to the fact that these teams broke though during this Alabama run.

Most people can’t remember the name of a band that had a hit or two 50 years ago, but everybody knows Elvis, The Beatles and Michael Jackson. We are not the same.

LSU wasn't even the first 15-0 team. Clemson did it the year before. And it won't be the last. In fact, I expect the playoffs will eventually be expanded to 8 teams and there will be 16-0 or even 17-0 teams, though personally I think the regular season needs to go back to 11 games when the playoffs expand.

LSU will be known more for falling harder and further than any other title winning team the year after than for 15-0

All of bamas titles will be remembered more vividly in the scope of college football. Nobody talks about the Colorado or Georgia Tech title, but Bear Bryant is a key thread in the fabric of the sport.

Hero’s (burrow) get remembered, but legends (Saban) never die. 2019 LSU will be remembered as a flash in the pan, tainted heavily by an historically bad 2020 team.

This is ignoring the fact that Alabama is on pace for the first 10 win SEC season ever, and will do so by winning every game by at least 2 touchdowns, not scrapping to 3 point and 5 point wins over division foes or touchdown wins over bad Texas teams.

UF just getting to the SEC title game isn't a co-championship, and if they were to win, it's an outright championship.
