He needs to do this soon. The timeline is too suspect, and is one of the most damaging aspects of this story. If he can prove it came from a legit source it would go a long way in quashing some of the rumors. But he didn't do this. He goes and retains an attorney and puts out vague denials.

That's why I think there's something to this.

He has handed over his bank statements for himself and his church over a month ago.

I think there's a difference in turning over financial records and directly proving where the funds come from. If I was Mr. Newton, I would be screaming from the mountain tops from where and whom I received the money to refurb my church. Especially if someone was trying to soil one of my children's name.

He needs to make this public though. If he is totally innocent, this would help everyone. Auburn is being convicted in the court of public opinion, fair or not.

The lawyer is for all the defamation of character suits he's gonna file to fund his new MEGA church.

The fact that he turned over records and the NCAA has not dropped the investigation is pretty big in and of itself.

Honest question is there anything besides the alleged money from boosters to Cecil that would tie him into telling his son he needs to go to Auburn? I thought it strange that he would tell his son to do this when apparently his son was really looking at Miss State since his former OC is there.

The only thing I can think is Cecil felt Cam would get better NFL offers and more success at Auburn.

Any answers?

This. Of course he would hand over bank records. There's not going to be a 200K deposit from Gene Chizik in his bank statements. If this happened, it would have been under the table, and probably in cash.

He needs to tell where the money did come from.

So.....

If I was to make unfounded allegations against you and your family, you'd turn over your personal and business financial records just to clear the air?

I don't necessarily disagree, but he may have some privacy issues publicly disclosing donations by innocent people.

Exactly. If all of this is completely above board, most of the rumors get squashed immediately. This distraction for Newton and Auburn could play on forever if he doesn't do this.

If cash $$ shows up in the collection plate on any given Sunday, how can he prove where it came from or from whom?
