Agreed. Go public with where you suddenly got the renovation money and this ends. Keep the public in the dark and you will be convicted in the court of public opinion. Fair or not, this is life.

So, let me get this straight....Cecil didn't want Cam to go to MSU after they (MSU) contacted him about the alleged extortion? That makes absolutely no sense.

It won't matter what Cecil says when the auditors start digging in. Funny thing about money is that it is realy easy to see impropriety, especially when an organization had no money, then suddenly started contracting to get work done. If there is no paper trail to a legitimate source of the funds, such as a loan. transfer from another church or agency, etc..., it will leave the appearance of impropriety, regardless of whether or not they can find a picture of someone putting the cash in Cecil's hands.

what the hell makes any sense about this whole story?.... that Cam was asking for cash, wasn't going to get it from MSU, yet was basically going to state up until he visited AU?.... WTF... So the Newton's were asking for thousands of dollars, weren't gonna get that from MSU, but he was still gonna go there b/c he LOVES starkville? Or that other teams were also hit up for money and he was still going to State?
None of this adds up. A MSU guy hits up another MSU guy for money... yet he ends up at AU...hmmm

Do you have any idea how much the renovations cost and what specifically was done? If you do, I'd love to know but I don't think anyone publicly knows at this point.
As for Mr Newton clearing any doubt about taking money, as has been said, he submitted the info to the NCAA about a month ago. No one involved in an NCAA investigation is allowed to publicly talk about it. I'm sure he would happily show proof he's innocent if this wasn't the case. If you don't believe the University has told him to give the NCAA all the info it needs to wrap this thing up asap, you're crazy. And as we all know, the NCAA is not known for being too speedy with investigations.

Donations to churches are usually confidential. Can he reveal the source without the donor's permission?
