he commented during the half time CBS panel discussion that the term Bama Bowl wouldn't go over very well in the hood.
The other guys just looked at each other, shook their heads and said "WHAT?" as the segment ended.

He won’t have to explain shite, because when it comes to race, blacks are allowed to say whatever they want, while white people can’t say anything

My best guess is that all of the guys were talking up Mac Jones, and he said “the hood” wouldn’t appreciate that?

It was such a low IQ remark, who tf knows what he meant

It is pretty obvious what he meant. During segregation the state of Alabama got a bad reputation in Birmingham and when Governor Wallace stood in the doorway of Alabama refusing to allow the black students in, until the national guard removed him. This being said, Bama may have a bad reputation in "the hood", but not the democrats who empowered the segregationist. Them, "the hood" votes for in mass numbers. In fact, less than a decade later Governor Wallace got the majority of the "hood" vote in Alabama.

Alabama has a history. Condredge Holloway played for Tennessee because neither Alabama or Auburn was ready for a black quarterback.

Brown is from Washington D.C. In the D.C. "hood" the term "bama" is an insult that means not stylish, or unsophisticated. Maybe this is what he meant.

Meh. Tell me you're a Boomer without telling me you're a Boomer. James Brown is, what, 60 years old. What he said has no relevance to today.

People, including those in "the hood", who are 30 years old or younger, "Bama" has been associated with excellence most of their lives.

Conclusion...James Brown is old.

Be that as it may be, when he Governed, he was a staunch segrationist. As were most Southern democrats of his era. When it became no longer poltically practical, he changed his tune. Wallace may have been well on his way to being the democrat candidate for President when he was shot. He was a terrible man and a corrupt leader. But he was a slick politcian.

You reckon Brown could find the hood? Doubt he's seen the hood in 40 years.

What's wrong with being a Boomer? For those who disagree so much, put away everything you own invented by boomers. Wifi or Bluetooth? Although I think she was truthfully born prior to boomers, the lady was amazingly intelligent, and stacked! We'd have most Gen z'ers completely fricked just by writing in cursive.

Bama is a derogatory term in the hood. If some calls you a Bama it means you're "slow" "country" or a "hick"

Bama can be used several ways, but is mostly used as a noun to describe something seen as uncool or behind the times in fashion sense etc.

It kind of East Coast slang.

I first heard it in college when I was wearing some Berkinstocks back in the day. A girl from Baltimore would tell me to "take those Bama arse sandals off" etc.
