While we live in a world of instant gratification, Jones — just in his 3rd season in Knoxville — scaled back expectations a little and indicated that he may need an additional three years at the least to fully bring the Vols back to prominence. Jones identified weak spots right now in the program such as the offensive line, defensive line and receivers.

Dustin Dopirak @TennesseeBeat
Jones: "It takes six to seven years in the SEC to really build a program." Goes through positions where they are short on depth.

That's just pathetic.

It does not take that long to build a competitive top shelf SEC program.

Exactly, he pieced together an O line with a transfer from Fordham of all places.

While CBJ isn't wrong about their lack of depth due to DD's incompetence, I wonder if his constant excuses before and after games doesn't negatively effect the mindset of his players.

Hmmm.

Saban inherited a sanction ridden program in 2007 and won the west in 2008.
Freeze inherited a team that lost 18 games in the previous 2 seasons and has been bowling every year since.
Gus inherited a team that went 3-9 in 2012 and won the SEC in 2013.
McElwain inherited an absolute shait show in 2015 and won the east in 2015.

Maybe Butch just isn't that good.......

Name me a successful SEC coach in the last two decades that wasn't winning by year three on the job. I'll wait.

With the exception of about 2 games, he's not doing that poorly this year. Don't understand why he would say stupid stuff like this. We should be basically back to full strength next year, and if we aren't competing for championships then, we never will under Butch.

Or you could look at it as winning with Booms recruits.
