It'll probably end up being Royal Ivey. High ceiling but very low floor. And Texas is returning 3, at most 4, scholarship players next year, so they probably won't even win 10 games regardless of who's the coach.

FWIW... here's the successor candidate list someone put out last summer if Williams retired.
Donovan would definitely be a home run hire...and if he ever wanted back in the college game, now would be the time at one of the blue bloods. Oklahoma City isn't exactly a glamour NBA gig.

Not getting a working link there. Curious to see who was on their list.

Donovan is in Chicago now and it’s pretty unlikely he comes back to the college game at this point. He much prefers being in the NBA without recruiting.

Donovan loved recruiting. I remember that story of him flying in to see a recruit (who was heading to school in the morning) and waving at him. The recruit thought he was a weirdo.

frick off man. I love Oats too but one sweet 16 run vs 6 championship? Come on.

Billy Donovan will be the first call. We could lose Oats if they get to their 3 or 4th choice.

UNC will aim much higher, so Oats and Musselman should be okay. Jay Wright will probably be their target.

Muss and Oats are at good jobs. If both keep it going then it will make it harder for schools like NC to hire them.

After thinking about it since UNC likes to "keep it in the family". I think they'll go with Wes Miller at UNC Greensboro. He's a great young coach that has stayed put waiting on the UNC job and he'll keep all of their skeletons hidden.

Every name on that list is complete shite or unrealistic. Oats/Muss wouldn’t be the top targets - but they would be in the next group if they miss on a few.

North Carolina.
That is all.
That is all.

Well, we'll see if UNC's untouchable status with the NCAA was the school or the coach.

Jay rights current program is as consistent as they come and has won 2 national championships. He’s not going anywhere.
