You think EA is actually gonna pay the players to use their likeness. I doubt it. Even if its cheap as dirt thats a shite load of contracts to manage and since they're the only developer making football games you'd still just get Generic Players.

I was reading yesterday about the NCAA and NFLPA working together in order to compensate the players for the use of their likeness, much like how the NFLPA handles Madden.

The demand in certainly there and there is a lane to make sure the players get paid.

EA would rake in money, they'd probably botch it though. I loved NCAA, and always felt Madden was always crap in comparison.
