If we max out Dom and Bruce Stevens we could make it in as a 12 seed or 11 seed. It will take some big home wins and taking care of business against some bad teams on the road. We get Iowa State at home for a chance to win a good non-conference top 25 game. We shall see if Kermit can get it done. So far most Ole Miss fans are excited with what he’s doing.

Both have the potential to make the tourney, I think. I haven't examined their schedules to see what they look like, so maybe the slightly weaker then last year SEC is going to hurt their chances.

That loss to Western Kentucky could really hurt us unless the Hilltoppers go on a run in Conference USA. Both Arkansas losses have been close and both games we should have won but for boneheaded mistakes down the home stretch.

Really??

I find this very hard to believe.

At this point, Kentucky is only considered to be in the field due to Name Brand. Their resume is not impressive.

Here are their opponents by KenPom rating:

#1 Duke- LOST by 32
#56- Seton Hall- LOST
----------------------------
#78- UNC Greensboro- WIN
#90- Southern Illinois- WIN
#167- Wintrhop- WIN
#276- Tennessee St.- WIN
#280- North Dakota- WIN
#295- Monmouth- WIN
#321- VMI- WIN

Will kinda be disappointing if the SEC only gets 5 in. This was supposed to be our best year in a while as a conference.

I think they'll get better but I agree. Right now, they're playing very mediocre ball but that's not unusual for Cal's teams.

Mississippi State can be a six seed if they buy into playing defense for the entire game.

If they did that, and valued the basketball on offense, they'd be a three seed, at least.

Conference has 4-5 pretty damn good teams

But the bottom of the conference is pretty bad.

Any SEC team who loses to A&M in basketball this season should be ashamed of themselves.

My fear is that Auburn, Tennessee, and State win most all of their games against the other 11, and then those other 11 cannibalize each other.

The worst case scenario is that Auburn and UT both finish 16-2 in SEC play... State could go 14-4... and everyone else is looking at a max of 9-10 wins with not enough quality wins to get in as a bubble team.

We could very easily be a 3-4 bid league this year.

It’ll take a great showing in the BIG 12/SEC for us to get 5+ imo, just an awful year for the conference as a whole in OOC play.

If Bama makes the ncaa tournament this season that would be a miracle turn around of historical proportions.

Not really a miracle turnaround since the 3 games they've lost are likely NCAA teams --or, at worst, NIT if they lose in their conference tourneys.

Alabama certainly hasn't looked that great but the massive ups and downs so far seem most likely to play out as being NCAA/NIT bubble team again.

Really, for all the teams in that bubble area, the most important thing is that all 4 of them and some below get a few more decent OOC wins so the SEC will have a chance at 6-7 NCAA bids.

We aren't even into conference play yet. How can they possibly know? Bracketology is silly at this point in the season.

That being said...#2 seed
