I wouldn't exactly say either of these teams were filled with inner city kids.
If you don't think the 1990 UNLV team was loaded with inner city kids, you need to watch the HBO special on The Runnin' Rebels of UNLV.
They had guys from LA, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Detriot, Las Vegas, etc..

In case you kids don't know it, the state of Georgia is an SEC state. Tech in Atlanta is almost even with Tulane in New Orleans. The difference is that Tech joined the ACC, which helped them. FSU also was a member of the now defunct Metro Conference. Tulane screwed themselves by folling GT's lead. Ask any older Jacket fan which conference he/she wishes they were in, and the SEC will always come up. Georgia will always out recruit Tech, just like LSU out recruits Tulane.

Arkansas is a better job hands down. More money, state to yourself, rich tradition, close to Dallas, Memphis, Little Rock and St. Louis. All towns that put out good basketball talent.
I live in Atlanta and while there is some good talent here its also not exactly easy to find a Georgia Tech fan. Their fan support is just not there. I can go out and find a Tennessee, Auburn or Florida fan before a Tech fan. Not to mention the whole UGA thing. Then there is the big elephant in the room...academics.

I'm extremely bias as I attend GT but there are a few things in this thread that are so far wrong it hurts. You could put 8 big time D1 schools in ga and the recruiting would still be much betterfor each school than Arkansas. Saying that the state of ga and ark are ANYWHERE close talent wise is the biggest joke ever.
GT is remodeling there gym to the tune of 45$ mil which will be done at the end of next year. The team will play at the gwinett center/Phillips arena next year. I don't know what facilities ARK is running with but this gym will be awesome.
We also just bought out our coach for $7 mil so saying we don't have money is also laughable.
Someone also mentioned UGA out recruits GT in basketball, I would LOVE to get an explanation at how you got to that conclusion.
