Dude Arkansas has been a basketball power for most of it's history. Just because they are down now doesn't all the sudden make the GT's of the world better places.

If you are talking about football, it is a wash. Tech has a ton more history but it is becoming more distant. The conference is not as good, obviously. The stadiums are about the same...small. Arky has SEC fans so the atmosphere is better for them but Tech has 4 National titles, more ACC and SEC titles than Arky has...and Arky has not really done much since leaving the SWC.
Arky's stadium is definitely better than GT's.
As for the NC's, LSU only claims 3, would you try to tell me that GT is better than us because they claim 4?

According to the stats being thrown around here Arky has accomplished a bit more but they played in the SWC and the SEC. The majority of what Tech has done has been against the ACC, which has been to top conference for decades up until the Big East the last few years.

Nope. GT has more NT's, wins, bowl appearances, bowl wins,...
Arky has uped their competition but have not really produced at a level to make them any better.
That is why it is a wash.
UGA only has 1 NT but i would say UGA is a better job than Tech.

But GT hasn't done much of anything outside 2004. If their numbers were even close to Arkansas' then maybe I could see the conference argument coming into it. But they don't, so it doesn't.

Gus Johnson, famous play-by-play announcer for CBS sports was on the Dan Patrick Show. Dan asked him for the best place he ever called a game.
He thought for a long time, and said, "I don't know why I say this, that's a hard question, but I would say, Walton Arena...the Razorbacks...Nolan Richardson...it was unreal."
Interesting there was no mention of Georgia Tech and for good reason. GT isn't even on the same radar as the Hogs are in Basketball, or any other sport for that matter.

What has Arky done since 1994?

You were the one who said the stadiums were a wash

Tech hasn't exactly been killing people either.
Arky gets the edge here because they are in the SEC. If I were a recuit and I was being offered by only Arky and GT, I would pick Arky every single time and I think most would as well.

Arkys football job is rising awhile Techs is stalled at best but if the OP is asking for overall as opposed to the last 10 years, it is stil a wash.

Arkansas is a better basketball job. If they actually hired Mike Anderson, they would be killer. I wish they would have kept Pel. The Razorback basketball program is a sleeping giant...they just need to make the right hire to wake it up.

Bobby Cremins used to say that the Atlanta Airport would often seal the deal for him with out-of-town recruits...

Except Bud Walton has about 10,000 more seats than Alexander Memorial Coliseum. Walton is not small. Second in the SEC in capacity behind Kentucky.

Football games are played in stadiums...fyi.

Razorback Stadium: 72,000 permanent seats with the ability to expand to 80,000 with temporary seats.
Bobby Dodd Stadium: 55,000
So, 30.9% more capacity is "about the same" to you?

Yeah dude, the basketball thread turned into a football thread by Auburn folks. Go figure.

Typical arrogance all over this board from Atlanta people. And btw, what is it with Auburn people always sucking off Atlanta and vice versa? Georgia Tech has a VERY solid basketball history. There's no way around that fact. However, even Alabama whose basketball history is always overshadowed by football has more NCAA tourney appearances (18) and has as many conference regular season titles and Sweet 16s (7 each) as Georgia Tech and Arkansas bball history is MUCH stronger than Alabama's history. In fact, the ONLY area G Tech is even better historically than Bama is it's 2 Final 4 appearances and 4 Elite 8 appearances.
I'm also confused as to how $45 million is enough to build a big time arena for G Tech or even a massive renovation. Alabama spent $24 mill a couple of years ago on Coleman Coliseum and you can't tell much difference other than the exterior of the facility. Arkansas has MUCH MUCH better basketball facilities than G Tech (and will after G Tech's renovation) and recruits EXTREMELY well when they have a decent coach. Georgia Tech would certainly be near the top of the SEC history wise if they were in the SEC but they wouldn't be ahead of Arkansas and the job is AT BEST as good as Arky and more likely not quite as prestigious despite what Atlanta homers think.
