Football games are played in stadiums...fyi.
I am aware of this. I was under the impression that this was a basketball thread, no?

Typical arrogance all over this board from Atlanta people. And btw, what is it with Auburn people always sucking off Atlanta and vice versa? Georgia Tech has a VERY solid basketball history. There's no way around that fact. However, even Alabama whose basketball history is always overshadowed by football has more NCAA tourney appearances (18) and has as many conference regular season titles and Sweet 16s (7 each) as Georgia Tech and Arkansas bball history is MUCH stronger than Alabama's history. In fact, the ONLY area G Tech is even better historically than Bama is it's 2 Final 4 appearances and 4 Elite 8 appearances.
I'm also confused as to how $45 million is enough to build a big time arena for G Tech or even a massive renovation. Alabama spent $24 mill a couple of years ago on Coleman Coliseum and you can't tell much difference other than the exterior of the facility. Arkansas has MUCH MUCH better basketball facilities than G Tech (and will after G Tech's renovation) and recruits EXTREMELY well when they have a decent coach. Georgia Tech would certainly be near the top of the SEC history wise if they were in the SEC but they wouldn't be ahead of Arkansas and the job is AT BEST as good as Arky and more likely not quite as prestigious despite what Atlanta homers think.
Well put.

Arky. Tech is the weak step-child of ACC basketball.
Next season tech will have zero on-campus home games as they are ripping down the Joke by Coke known as Alexander Coliseum and building a new facility.
The fan base quit on Paul Hewitt (can't blame them as they couldn't win a road game to save their lives {lost to Kennesaw State this season}.

They are both in the state of Georgia, they got each other's back homes.

Leave it to auburn to call out Arkansas football on a basketball thread by saying GT's 4 football titles are better than our 1 title. Which it is. But auburns two titles are better than GT's four.

more talent in uga/atl
more tradition in arkansas
debatable answer - I've never visited the Ga Tech campus... but my blind guess is it is nicer than Arkansas campus (facilities are great hogs, it's the area I'm talking about)

Better city: Branson or Vegas?
Equally dumb question, IMO

Ga Tech's campus is nice but it's in a shitty part of town if you ask me. They are fixing the surrounding area up now so it has hope still.
And
at parkjas trying to say Bobby Dodd is comparable to DWS. Have you even been to both? Bobby Dodd is a shite hole and seats far less than DWS.
And

if you are saying arky is branson and ga tech vegas I guess that's some sort of analogy

I've visited G Tech's campus and will admit that it's been built up quite nicely. The dorm upgrades and student housing (as a fallout from having the Olympics there) are really nice. Having said that, campuses in heavily urban areas just never seem to fit as nicely as campuses with more room to work with. Atlanta is definitely a good place to live and offers a lot to do for any prospective head coach, I just think it's a slightly overrated thing in the life of big time college coaches. A head coach can make just as much money in many cases at a major SEC school with football being a huge + for the athletic department's financial health without quite as much pressure to win big right away. Places like Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee are underrated basketball jobs for this reason. Schools with very lucrative football programs that have decent enough basketball facilities and very solid basketball tradition too but don't have that much pressure from the fanbase to win big. Places like that are very underrated imo opinion because the head bball coach has the support of football rich cash cow programs that provides him a very competitive pay with a supportive but not overbearing fanbase. Arkansas is SLIGHTLY different in that they have a better history than the aforementioned schools and are more of a football AND basketball than the others. Still though, Northwest Arkansas seems to be a very livable area and coaches making what they make can always hop on a plane and visit the big city whenever they want. Who needs to actually live there when you can visit and leave and live outside all the hustle and bustle and the unending traffic nightmares?
The bottom line is these head coaches can afford to visit Atlanta, Chicago, NYC, etc whenever they want with the money they make without the headaches of actually having to live there. Of course, if they are big city people to begin with then yes living in Atlanta would be a no brainer.

Both programs are going after the Mizzou coach so we may find out soon enough.

you are thinking like an adult or coach
what i was driving at is where the recruits would rather live... aside from the rare hicks from french lick most recruits are urban (or at least suburban) and feel more out of place in more rural environments
there may be more opportunity to get in trouble in urban areas... but considering stories from Auburn, UGA, and UT over recent years bad kids can find adequate trouble in any location

I give the nod to the yellow jackets
arkansas fans are generally having high expectations and are willing to run coaches out of town
tech fans don't have as high of expectations, they play in the ACC, and GA has produced guys like Derrick Favors and Thaddeus Young and Chris Bosh
