Yes, based on college performance.
Wouldn't put Tyrann for LSU, then, either.
Billy Canon? One or two more, probably.

is Tebow really the best to ever play at UF?
don't get it twisted...I hate the Gators...but they have produced a lot of good football players...ever heard of Emmitt Smith?
...and that's just the first one who comes to mind..there are many more
Emmit Smith was great for combination college/pro....but for college only I would go with Tebow. He was a great college player.

3x first team all sec
3x first team all american
Cannon
2x first team all sec
1x second team all sec
2x first team all american
Hesiman trophy winner
Im taking Cannon or Casanova

Eli is probably the answer. He carried a team to 7-1 in the SEC.

ETA: I take that back. After looking st career stats, Dak is actually better than any Qb that LSU has had. Ever. And it’s not even very close really.
Tommy Hodson was 1st Team All SEC four times. He's kind of a forgotten man but he was better than any OleMissLite player at any position. Ever.

Still has the GOAT description on NFL Films:
"Doug Atkins was like a storm blowing over a Kansas farm house. He came from all directions. All you could do was to tie down what you could and hope he didn't take the roof."

Asinine. A popularity contest trumps actual stats? Or even eye witness accounts? Who in their right mind ever saw Hodson play and thought " there's an all-timer"

Don Hutson
Don Hutson was great but if you want to argue that someone is better than DT you're picking the wrong person. The person you should have said is John Hannah. I still think DT is the greatest player to ever play at Alabama but John Hannah is not far behind.

Archie played on talented teams in an era when Ole Miss was a national power. Eli... not so much.
You could make arguments for either.

Lee Roy Jordan might have a say in this also.

Gabe Jackson was pretty dominant in college as well and he is still pushing people around and pancaking folks in the nfl. Fletcher Cox is a beast and IMO Chris Jones was equally if not more of a beast in college. Some NFL people had him top 5 interior DL and he was a rookie last year already commanding double teams.

Since this is college only, these LSU guys have consideration:
Faulk, Honey Badger, PP7, Casanova, Cannon, Dorsey, Josh Reed. They all won national awards except Faulk, but his career was elite.
Dorsey won more national awards than anyone, surprised no one mentioned him.
In my opinion though, Josh Reed was the best. No one I ever watched play LSU football took over like he did, to me at least.

Biletnikoff winner
Unanimous all american
2x first team all sec
SEC season record for receiving yardage per game (145.0 in 2001)
second in career receiving yardage per game (96.8)
If he was 10 years younger, he would be an NFL hall of famer. His style would be money in todays nfl

Nah. From a statistical standpoint, sure. But from a "better, not even very close" standpoint, nah. YA Tittle and Bert Jones were hands down better.

^ This. He was great but greatest ever, not in front of DT. Only guy I can think of with an argument would be John Hannah...maybe.
