Not really. That was an even game until McCaleb busted that 70 yarder with about 5 minutes left. Despite Newton rushing for 200+ yards the LSU defense limited Auburn's access to the end zone

Yeah, that 1995 team brutalized a lot of really good teams.
Oddly, the team that came closest lost by 14 - and it was a 3-8 Washington State team.

Without a doubt if the definition of 'best' is 'as compared against all other teams that year'....I go with 1945 Army. Not even close (but hardly a normal year).
