i don't think anybody who follows college sports and isn't a SC fan boy or SEC cheerleader would say SC blows CLemson away in baseball and basketball.

Blow them away? No but definitely better
quote:

ok, i disagree. and again, most of the recent SEC titles were Bama and Florida. you can't say it is the best conference based on 2 programs.

Ok, you are certainly welcome to your opinion. I guess the next thing to ask would be who had the best conference in that stretch? And why do you think that?
quote:

It wasn't just titles that defined it as the best in that stretch run...look at the records verses the other conferences in head to head games. The Pac-12 was the only conference with a respectable record and they lost any game that mattered.

Fair enough, I just think the titles is the easiest/first thing to look at I guess

a SEC team winning the national title isn't proof that the SEC was overall the best conference. you can parrot that line all day but it isn't evidence

If you were talking about one/two or just three years I might agree but seven in a row speaks for itself.

quote:

if SEC team wins the bball tournament this year, are you really going to argue SEC was best conference this year? lol they only got 5 teams in

No but comparing the NCAA tournament to the way CFB postseason is handled is very foolish. We can draw from their being 3 teams in the elite 8 that the SEC was probably better than what some thought but they certainly weren't the best or top 3 imo.

He's always been like this...

Maybe but I have only really seen his posts in this thread. Just thought I would over some advice from an outsider because if he expects this to be some type of "safe space" then he would be mistaken.
quote:

i would say you are passive aggressive. you are talking down to me, and I didn't ask for your advice on anything.

I apologize if it came off that way, that wasn't my intent. Of course you didn't ask for it, you probably didn't know who I was before I posted that.

Sometimes the best advice is the one you didn't ask for

i don't agree the SEC has dominated football. again, conferences don't win titles, TEAMS do. best team in country doesn't mean they played in best conference. why is this so hard to grasp?

I'm not sure how you can say that the SEC didn't dominate from 2007-2012. It is very ignorant to say otherwise. 7 straight championships speak for themselves. Now having said that I can agree that they can be over the top at times and we have much more parity now which is great.

football isn't some kind of tag team conference competition. lol

I'm not sure what you are trying to say. I'm not claiming it is, we all do play in conferences though and can be grouped that way.
quote:

this forum isn't specific to 'SEC fans'. they obviously allow fans of any team to post here. i view it as a football forum, you guys are so hung up on conference, which is just a schedule.

As a Michigan fan you are right about it not being specific to SEC fans but I'm not sure what you expect.I'm mostly just a viewer when I get time and don't post often but after reading this thread I thought I would chime in.

You seem like an ok guy but you have some serious misunderstandings about this place. I wouldn't go on to any ACC board and expect to not see some black lash if I labeled people as "ACC homers" as soon as I didn't agree with them on a topic. The SEC is very proud of their "dominance" in recent history and while it can be over the top a lot of the time, it is warranted to a certain extent. We are definitely finding a better balance in CFB now though. You also come across as extremely passive-aggressive a lot of the times, even if that is not what you are trying to do. I guess I'm just saying you should be more open and not so closed minded. Hope this helps

We need more posters from outside the SEC on this board.
Not most but recently destroying Florida last season. A ten win football team in the SEC.

2016 Tennessee will finish 11-1 in the regular season

Agreed and a loss to Michigan in Final 4
Lets see here

Gus: High school offense that is dying

Butch: 4th quarter choker

Bret: fat mediocre coach

I guess I would go with Bert because he at least proved he could win in a big time conference. Don't like any of those choices though.

Had to split the NC with Nebraska I believe

Yes, it was a travesty
1997 Michigan team has to be up there. Dad took me to the NC game and it is a day that I will never forget

52-14 Has to sting

It did but probably not as much as never winning a NC

Do you hold to this sports theory?

No, but I don't have a choice

Hey, I like you

impressive histories and seem to be back on track again. That makes college football better, imo.

I'm not going to try and pretend that the last decade or so hasn't been rough but there is great hope.

So beating up on OSU in the NC......didn't think about that one too much did you.

U got an answer for every post

Isn't that the point of posting on a forum

quote:

HOw many natties do you guys have compared to OSU? I am curious as I seriously do not know?

Of course it depends on who you ask but OSU-8 UM-11
I hate to say it but OSU has put together an amazing class so far but I very impressed with what Harbaugh has done and his success should only continue.
