Why would Beard leave professionally? Money would be the only reason. Beard can stay at Ole Miss and be well paid and under no pressure to win, but win anyway.

The Good News
Chris Beard is a great coach and you will likely reach your first Elite 8 in the next 3 years. I don't think it's possible for A&M to hire a better basketball coach.

The Bad News
He is likely to use this job as a launchpad into a bigger job..

A&M should 100% hire Chris Beard if they can land him.
It's a no brainer imo.

I think you're mixing up "A&M ruining a coach" with A&M hiring a coach who turned out to be not all that.

As your OWN EXAMPLES point out, turns out the coaches just weren't all that- just as everyone here claims whenever we hire anyone.

I could be wrong. I'm sure A&M will commit to tens of millions of dollars for grass that cannot be walked on, but since firing Jimbo and being saddled with his $77M buyout, A&M has been shopping at K-Mart for coaches.

No doubt. Would be a no brainer hire, but expect to hire a replacement. It’s not personal. So already be working on that also.

Who knows what Trev will do though.

Auburn couldn’t afford Kiffin, now aTm can’t afford Beard.

When will these programs learn?

The 12th Man Foundation made a donation to the Athletics Department of $160 Million during the halftime of Jimbo's last game. His buyout really isn't an issue anymore.

It was cold donating the buyout money during his last game though.

Texas fired Beard for what happened. Yet, Ole Miss and A&M, both desperate for basketball relevance, hires him.

Winning does trump everything.
