Good stories from that state. AU likely ranked #1 today, and this on the heels of Alabama's Best Team Ever making the Final Four last year. Feel-good moments...

And the states second best program behind Auburn has Andy Kennedy as HC and a 16-4 overall record.

Auburn having their greatest regular season of all-time and for some reason can't stop talking about Alabama basketball and trying to portray it as some sort of raging dumpster fire.

Is this just you guys trying to project your collapsing football program onto our basketball program or something? It's very odd.

After going 44-54 (16-38) over the first 3 seasons , Pearl's team finally broke out in 2018 to win the SEC. They then lost by 31 in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament to Clemson. The following year they were 13-6 (2-4) and unranked on January 26 and 18-9 (7-7) on February 23......they then got hot and went to a Final Four.

You'd think they'd know their own recent history and how it compares, but that'd be asking too much I guess.

I think they have only played each other once and UAB won.

ETA: it was the NIT in 93 hosted in Tuscaloosa. UAB won 58-56.

You got that information on an Auburn site since it has been discussed for a week or two but you get a pass. We understand you had to go catch another rodent to run the spinning cage so you can generate electricity for the trailer.

It think that's a good indicator of just what kind of a job building a program at Auburn is. Hell, Pearl is still sub .500 in conference at AU.

2018 is where it started coming together, then we had two starters suspended and played thin. Then when Anfernee went down it was a miracle we made it to the round of 32 at all.

2019 is where what Bruce has built bore fruit when we got smoking hot to end the season.

2020 would have probably been at least a sweet 16 run before COVID canceled the postseason. We were the 2 seed in the SEC tournament and probably looking at a 4 seed.

2021 was a gap year.

2022 we're elite and everyone knows it.

I live in Atlanta and you live in "Middle Georgia", so the odds on one of us heating their trailer with a rodent in a spinning cage tilt pretty heavily towards............not me.

No doubt - Pearl is as good as it gets.

Point was more the fact that Alabama under Oats is currently on almost the exact same trajectory that Auburn was under Pearl if you start Pearl's clock at year 3 and ignore years 1 and 2 (which is fair given the dumpster fire he inherited and had to build out of).

Alabama is a #4/5 seed in the NCAAT and probably going to be ranked when the AP poll comes out today. It has a Top 3 recruiting class coming in next year.

It is odd but some fans are just incapable of being realistic about their rival/s.

Agreed. I don't think the floor at Bama is as low as ours so the build isn't as big, and I think Oats is about where he needs to be.

Even in what may be a "down" or "gap" year, Bama is still playing OK against the toughest schedule in the country and should dance.
