Bama insisted that bad losses should eliminate a team
They do eliminate you from a 2 team (and usually 4 team) playoff.
The field has 12 spots now.
Teams with bad losses make the field every single year now.

If Bama loses, neither they nor Texas belong in the playoffs

I'll be fine with and hope it happens.

If you want to argue those wins don’t over come close wins against bad teams that’s an opinion
Yeah, that’s what I said.
The combination of losses and close wins against really, really bad teams puts you in a hole when comparing your resume to Bama’s - especially considering the two teams have 3 common opponents. Bama had better showings vs. 2 of those 3 teams.

So, help me out here Bama fans. Why should you get in over them? Is it because Bama already beat UGA and that makes that a wash? Is it because FSU was the 1st game of the year and should be overlooked? Is it because the conference championship game shouldn't count? Or is it...something else?
There are several reasons we should get in over them if both of us have three losses.
First and foremost, our third loss would have come in a conference championship game which is an extra (13th) game. The fact Alabama made it to the conference title game should be just as big a data point as any other data point. It was an accomplishment Texas didn't accomplish. There's a big discussion right now (in general) about teams who make the conference championship but lose their spot in the playoff because they lost the conference title game. You can't look at Texas' three losses in the REGULAR season and say that Alabama's third loss, which came in a conference title game are equal losses. Alabama only had 2 losses in the regular season compared to Texas' three losses. That is a statistical fact, not an opinion. You can't simply overlook that fact.
Both teams lost to crap Florida teams so that's a wash.
Texas beat an OU team we lost to.
We beat a UGA team that beat Texas
You're down to comparing losses which again, we only had two in the regular season and our third came in a championship game. Where as Texas three regular season losses kept them out of the conference title game. We'd also have a better recurd of 10-3 compared to their 9-3.
I just don't see a case where you can put Texas in over Alabama if both have three losses. Unless you're a biased UGA fan who isn't really trying to have any objectivity.

If Bama is 10-3 and Texas is 9-3, Bama would have the better strength of record.
Both teams have a bad loss to Florida schools, Texas to 4-8 Florida and Bama to 5-7 FSU.
Bama has more ranked wins than Texas and has a victory over #3 UGA while Texas has a win over #7 A&M.
The past committees have said that losing a conference championship game would not eliminate a team.
Having said all that, If Bama loses, they very well be left out, but Texas won't be taking their spot.

Point is we are giving way too much of a pass to teams that play no one and screwing teams who actually schedule and play hard teams
I agree with this. It's why the NCAA basketball committee has increasingly considered QUALITY WINS instead of overall record their most important selection/seeding criteria.
Shockingly this has caused college basketball teams to schedule more and more enjoyable OOC matchups.
Even more surprising is that the people who brought us supersized conferences that make no geographic or traditional sense can't look over at their desk and copy that.

Absolutely fair
Sucks for Texas that Arch Manning actually got good at the tail end of the season. Doesn't replace the real crap games Texas played until the Aggie win though

With a third loss Bama don’t belong
The ESPN pundits have already hinted at Bama being knocked out if they lose the SEC CG.
ESPN has an untold amount of influence over the CFP.
If they want Miami in over Bama, it is going to happen.

Going to leave the top seed in the SEC out of the playoff? Think about that.
