Why would we feel like that?

Yeah?

To take a head coaching job?

Last night should have quenched the need for validation. Not sure I understand this thread, tbh.

They won’t say anything bad about him. He will be the next Bama coach when Saban retires.

He’s a good dude who put in a lot of good work for our school. I wish him all the worst when playing us but I’m glad he’s done well in abstract.

Great coach. Helped Build the Dynasty. If we had to get beat I'm glad it was Kirby. Now the Challenge begins to keep it going yr after yr. Hard to keep players fans Assistant Coaches all happy and focused on winning and doing the right things.

I’m just glad Auburn hired Guster instead of him.

To beat him, you need a great passing attack. When Monken leaves, things might get interesting.

I remember predicting Smart to UGA over a decade ago and uga fans vehemently shooting it down.

Put the bong down. He ain’t going anywhere. You realize he is FROM Georgia, PLAYED and GRADUATED from UGA? This is his dream job. Plus who in their right mind would want to take the Bama job after Saban leaves? Yeah that guy will be Ray Perkins Jr. No win situation.

What is a lot more important is…what do Georgia fans think of Smart? You still think he is Mark Richt two point zero like half your fans were saying a couple of years ago?

Alabama fans are not like those from some schools who think ex-coaches committed treason, or were terrible, or were over the hill, or should be denigrated, pilloried, shite on. We don’t even think negatively… good for Kiffin, good for Sark, good for Napier, good for Smart, good for all of them except against Alabama.

It was that way with Coach Bryant’s acolytes too back in the 70s. Alabama fans just have a more mature outlook. And it shows.

I don’t remember any of our fans saying that he was Richt 2.0 but I’ve seen a ton of rivals make that claim

I don't know, he left the cupboard full of nfl caliber athletes at LSU. He will do the same at Bama when he hangs it up.

You have to try and replace the goat. No matter who it is it won't be good enough.

If it was 2007 he woulda been left out of the BCS this year just like Richt. I still see him as the same. Not a bama fan but that’s still what I think. Richt woulda been in just as many playoffs and likely woulda won one as well.

He was my favorite DC at Bama, hands down. Had a lot of energy, the players loved him, and he did a good job in recruiting.

Honestly, losing to Smart doesn’t bother me at all. I actually like the guy. In a weird way, I’m almost proud of him for going from my favorite DC to the guy who brought UGA their first title in a while.

Great DC that helped bring us four natties; stayed at Bama much longer than any other coordinator of Saban’s. Hate that we lost last night but, if we had to lose, I’d rather lose to Smart and I’m happy for him…

Would love to see Kirby succeed Saban whenever he retires but I doubt he’d leave his alma mater, especially after bringing home a nattie of his own…

Nothing but respect for Kirby Smart.

He was a key part of the Saban run at Alabama and will always be thought of fondly here. If we had to lose to someone, there’s no shame in iodine to the formidable Georgia program he’s built

He was smart enough to make a carbon copy
of the Alabama program at Georgia---and stuck
with it.

Cannot believe there are folks still clinging on to this.ONCE AGAIN,CMR was elite the first half his career. Not so much the 2nd half and this was the coach who was fired.

Laughable. He was in year 10 without a SECC and getting crushed on the recruiting trail despite a slight bump from Pruitt in '14 and '15.
