Bama fans are like that obnoxious person that screams “GET HIM!!!” every play their team is on D because they don’t have the aptitude to offer anything else.

Bama Fan: Golding sucks

Competent Football Fan: He posted the #2 defense in the SEC. Why does he suck?

Bama Fan: I don’t know, stop confusing me with facts

What an amazing job he did with the most veteran talent Alabama has had on defense since 2017. He managed to get toasted for 52, couldn’t stop 3rd and long draws in another. Those outcomes kept a top 3 roster out of the playoffs.

If Golding is so great you and your team should be happy happy happy.
You come on back this time next year and tell tRant just how happy you and lane are, ok?

Your defense had 3 starters that were seniors

Does Alabama have the most oblivious, uninformed fanbase? Is it because they have so many bandwagon fans?

Seems as if they’re being a bit harsh. Golding has done a fine job, especially considering the innovations made on offense in recent years.
Just like with Saban's coaching, it was the talent gap and not the coaching. Bama will remain the same while OM may look better but Pete's defense will be much worse.

Are you fcking serious. He had an entire secondary, DL and LB back that were starters LAST fcking year. You have two 1st rd OLB two top 2 rd safeties and 2 1st rd Cb in Branch and McKinstry. This defense was a disappointment.

Yep, with Nick Saban standing over his shoulder and Alabama's talent on the field. He was our worst D coordinator since Saban arrived by far. Congrats on the hire.

Who is available that will give you better than the #2 defense in the SEC?

Does anyone have an actual name in mind instead of all these vague ambiguities and Kirby / Pruitt (neither of which are coming)?

The same advanced statistics I referenced have Jim Leonhard posting 3 top 5 defenses at Wisconsin while Golding posted 0. He currently doesn't have a job.

Pruitt, if cleared for Alabama to hire, would be a major improvement.

Schumann certainly has the pedigree having worked so closely with Kirby. If Alabama offers big money it's gonna come down to whether his loyalty is with Kirby or his alma mater. Certainly not a guarantee he's better than Golding because he's only been Co-DC alongside Lanning and Muschanp while working under Smart, but there's definitely potential for him to be the next big thing.

Alabama has plenty of clear options that all look better than Golding.

This is so much worse. You went to Ole Miss out of state? Yikes. I’m sure you’re now going to claim you got a full ride but the pool of out of state Ole Miss grads is…..well it’s simply not desirable. I’m not usually one to get into these pointless ‘gotcha’ southern stereotype attacks, but this is what you wanted. I will just say that if your intent here was to continue to peacock about superior ‘standards’ by bragging about going to OM out of state then you have failed miserably.

It’s a great hire, I’m pretty happy.

I’m truly happy for you. I like Ole Miss. I’ve had a hell of a time in Oxford on multiple occasions. Good times and people.

Again, he posted the #2 defense in the SEC. Who specifically will you hire that will beat that by one position?

Is a pulse even required for this distinction with that talent on defense? This is just a weird thing to fixate on. You don’t have to believe me, I’m ok with that. But my knowledge of his approach extends beyond googling incomplete and ultimately meaningless stats today. I don’t have a crystal call for 2023 so I don’t know what #1 would look like. But to answer your question, I would expect that nearly any established NFL coordinator, and two- three dozen college coordinators and retread HC’s would be an upgrade in terms of just reducing those “holy frick, what the hell do we even think our gameplan is today- do we even have one?” type games.

But again, congrats. I’m glad you’re happy.

The bigger point here is Saban is just re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. It's over.

Our incoming out of state GPA is north of 3.5 average.

That is all I wanted to point out for now.

Question for the Alabama fans ITT.

When Kirby Smart left Alabama, the fanbase told everyone that Alabama wouldn’t miss a beat because that was actually Nick Saban’s defense. They told us he was the real defensive mastermind.

Now it’s Pete Golding’s fault the defense hasn’t lived up to expectations?

What’s the deal here? Why doesn’t Nick Saban catch any heat over this?

Pruitt would come back in a heartbeat.

If it isn't him, it must be someone better.

I’ve got no beef with you, or anyone for that matter from Mississippi who likes Burnside.

Like I said, I almost never cast such stones. But that’s this guy’s entire shtick and him proudly proclaiming that he went to OM out of state as of it was some some sort of trump card is…..well it’s just utterly ridiculous and comical.

I don’t like pissing matches either. They are usually stupid. Still we are a R1 research school and a library designated suppository of legal record with very distinguished alumni in many fields not to mention the arts as you stated, so I find your statement utterly ridiculous and comical, or at least emotional.

Hey man but wanted to add frick it. Let’s all be happy and don’t tear each other down or where our homes and loved ones live.
