Not sure what this is supposed to mean or if you had that worked out as well in your head.

I predict this thread will not wear well.

You just hired a new DC and you're on here acting mad at us? If it makes you feel better we all promise not to say anything negative about Golding ever again.

What DC will make you move up one spot from #2 in the SEC?

Seems as if they’re being a bit harsh. Golding has done a fine job, especially considering the innovations made on offense in recent years.

Stat padding against lesser teams.
He kept doing this thing where instead of having 3-4 defensive lineman on the line, Alabama would only run 1 or 2. It looked like a normal front, except the other 2 defensive lineman spots were filled by linebackers.
When you are playing against smaller offenses, and smaller offensive lines this is not an issue. The extra speed puts more pressure on the QB, and the weight size between the linebacker and smaller offensive lines isn't that big.
When it came to normal SEC sized offensive lines, they ran all over our defense. And because our defensive "line" was so much smaller, it just appeared that our defense was soft as they were pushed all over the field. On passing plays it still worked out decent due to the speed, we got more sacks.
But a defense that can't stop the run is not a winning defense. Winning the line of scrimmage it turns out is really important.

He was the best. Already miss that stupid Hobbit face looking lost on the sidelines while a mediocre offense drives down the field on us.

A bit harsh? With the talent and experience he had on defense in 2022 he damn well should have been shutdown.

And neither one of them are walking through the door, so it’s a pointless comparison.
Plus neither one had to deal with BoB’s shitty offense……wonder if they would have had similar stats with BoB as the OC?

I hope he does well for y’all 11 games out of the year. Good luck.

Look at the stats in the games that matter

Football outsiders DF+
2022 6th Golding
2021 6th Golding
2020 8th Golding
2019 6th Golding
2018 4th Lupoi
2017 1st Pruitt
2016 1st Pruitt
2015 1st Smart
2014 3rd Smart
2013 4th Smart
2012 2nd Smart
2011 1st Smart
2010 5th Smart
2009 1st Smart
2008 5th Smart
2007 28th Steele
Outside of Saban's 1st year with Kevin Steele, Alabama has had a top 5 defense every year the coordinator has not been Pete Golding.
Pete Golding has never had a top 5 defense at Alabama despite Alabama being 1st or 2nd in recruiting every year.
I don't think Golding is a terrible defensive coordinator, but he's a seriously underperforming defensive coordinator and will not be missed at Alabama unless we royally screw up the next hire.

Prediction: Ole Miss improves dramatically on defense in the coming years and Alabama remains more or less the same. Which is to say they will be a top ten defense that gets cooked by good offensive coaching from time to time. Bama did need a reset though so, good on them.

Congrats then. It is a win for both of us.

Lol damn, didn’t even think about that.
Golding posted the #2 defense in the SEC while dealing with BoB’s shitty offense. Wow

Best response so far has come from a Gamecock fan. Interesting.

Who is available that will give you better than the #2 defense in the SEC?
Does anyone have an actual name in mind instead of all these vague ambiguities and Kirby / Pruitt (neither of which are coming)?

There were times this year when Alabama was running a 1-5-5 defense. Enjoy Pete in Oxford.
