I've seen a lot of people making excuses for Milroe and Simpson during the spring and after the spring game for their subpar performances. Bringing in Buchner basically confirms everyone's doubt around the QB room. What do you think you'll get from the QB position in 2023 and who will that guy be?

Hopefully we get just enough. We want to go back to the days when we had goons on both lines of scrimmage and just made the other team quit.

Yeah, the days of winning games by dominating the line of scrimmage are "gone." Great take.

Everyone has doubt about the QB room. The previous starter is getting drafted tonight, and it's April.

I have no clue what this kid's role is supposed be, but if he competes and wins the job, he's the best QB on the roster.

Players also get recruited every year to come and sit behind established starters.

Until Nick Saban stands up and says "we're fricked, everybody sucks and this stiff has to save us," I have to believe this is no different from any of the portal shenanigans we see every year.

Simple as that.

Let me pose a question to you.
If you're the HC, and you want to change the basic mentality of your team (from throw-first to pound and grind), and you've brought in an OC coach with the same MO as those that you're looking for, and he personally knows of a player that he strongly feels (from past experience) can make the offense a winner,.....would you offer that player a scholarship?
That's what I thought!

No doubt.

Their results were great last season.

Saban has won national championships with five different QBs, several of whom were first year starters who didn’t turn any heads in the “Spring Scrimmage”.

One was a transfer from Florida State who backed up Jamies Winston and had never done shite. Nobody on this board thought Mac Jones would ever start at Bama, much less be the highest rated passer in the nation in 2020 and be picked in the first round. Will it happen again? Don’t know. But declaring the Saban tDecline in late April because he brought in an insurance QB is pretty stupid.

I was under the impression that the QB was injured most of last season. Besides, are you really gonna assume that the rest on ND's team has the talent that The Tide has?

What goes around comes around. College ball is dead. Nil/ Portal turned the game we love into NFL lite. Loyalty is a two street. If I’m Milroe, Simpson, or even Holstein, I’m pissed. Majority of players are there for education and all the past Ra Ra of yesteryear. The small percentage of 5 star and some 4 stars who think the NFL is calling them will react and go do what’s best for them.

It’s big business now and if Buckner falters, Rees will be in the hot seat.

It is what it is. We all root for the uniform anyway.

From what I see, most Alabama fans are taking it in stride. They just hope for a game manager type quarterback that won’t cost them games with turnovers and dumb mistakes. They don’t expect them to win games through the air. They feel like the running backs and offensive line are the strength of the offense. And just looking it, it seems like the majority just want Saban to put who he feels is the best quarterback, that has the lowest probability of blowing games, out on the field. I don’t sense a ton of panic. Heck, I don’t even get the feeling there is any urgency to know who that guy is, now, in April.

Now, LSU and Georgia fans? That is a different story. They seem to be VERY invested in who the Alabama quarterback is going to be.

And it is ironic for LSU; because Jayden Daniels looked like hot garbage in the first game of the year last year and they wanted to cut him from the team. But by the end of the season he looked like a completely different player, a dangerous duel threat QB who could best you with his arms and his legs, and those same fans were mumbling about ‘Daniels for Heisman 23’.

He completed 73.5 percent of his passes for 209 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions.

He also ran for another 114 yards averaging 7.1 yards per carry.

Hot garbage? Do you actually know anything about football?

I asked a question about the Bama QB situation and multiple people here bring up Brian Kelly and LSU. Typical.

Well, I'm all for going back to a stout oline and some nasty guys in the trenches and I love a power run game. Some of that bullshite BOB called was infuriating, 3 pass plays inside the damn 10 yr line.
