Heard this discussed today from a guy who knows the inner workings of high level ath depts.

He says he thinks Auburn is waiting out the storm and then will try to poach Kiff from Ole Miss in a surprise blow. That's why Harsin has not been canned yet.

Hey, it's already happened once recently, why not again?

It’s a bad plan.

Ole Miss has a good shot at being undefeated for the Bama game on November 12th. Kiffin’s not going to risk a potential championship season to consider taking a chaotic Auburn job. And if Ole Miss wins the Bama game, then forget it. They’ll be a potential playoff team.

So Auburn sits around waiting, twiddling its thumbs while other quality coaches are hired elsewhere.

I don’t see Kiffin as a legitimate candidate for the job at all. Rhule is my bet.

He’s be a fool to take that job. He’s going to land a blue blood job in the next two years

Rhule is going to sit on his 40 million fat stacks waiting on the right opportunity. Aubrun ain't it.

Correct. He’s either going to a top 3-5 program or back to the NFL. At this point Auburn really can’t offer anything more than Ole Miss can. He’s already paid 7.5 million without including incentives. He will get whatever he wants from Ole Miss without having boosters trying to tell him what to do. He’s completely rebuilt a team that everyone said would struggle this year through the portal. With Auburn paying buy outs and then trying to bring Kiffin in for a rebuild, they won’t offer anything Ole Miss will not match.

Kiffin likely wouldn’t do much better at AU than he is at OM currently

And there is much less pressure at OM. Plus all the coeds

I think Kiffin actually likes being at OM and I think he stays there awhile

They will probably fire Harsin after the game this weekend.

I've never understood the Matt Rhule love. That seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

And I'm angling for Gisele Bündchen Brady. The result will be the same.

I'll wait for the official lists that can't be released until the search is done and also can't be verified after the search is done

Wasn't the Harsin the deal that a disaster has already happened?

Auburn needs to get off their lazy fricked up arse and go find their own coach and quit trying to poach other coaches from SEC schools

What? This is retarded. Everybody’s fair game. They should try to get the very best coach they can. Who gives a shite if he coaches at Arkansas or Ole Miss. If those schools want to keep their coaches, pony up and do what it takes to do it. Auburn has no moral obligation to go outside the SEC.

That said, there’s no chance Kiffin leaves Ole Miss for Auburn. When Tubs did it, there was no Saban at Bama or Kirby at Georgia. Auburn is currently flanked by maybe the best programs in the last 25 years less than 3 hours away on either side.

And instead of sharing a state with Mississippi State, he’d have to share it with Auburn. Instead of Vanderbilt being your permanent East opponent, you trade them for Georgia. Instead of remaining at a top 10-15 program you’ve built, you’d have to go to a dumpster fire that can’t currently achieve that top 10-15 program status—there’s just too much stacked against Auburn currently.

I’ve got nothing specifically against Auburn. Have a lot of respect for them. Been my favorite historical LSU rival. It’s possible to win there. But not now. Not consistently. Not without a Cam Newton type generational player, and that’s not sustainable. I don’t think Kiffin can win an NC at Ole Miss. But Indefinitely don’t think he—or anyone—can win one at Auburn with the way the deck is so currently stacked against them. I may be wrong, but I don’t think there’s a realistic amount of money they could offer him to make him leave Ole Miss. I don’t think there’s a realistic amount of money they can pay any desirable coach with options to take that gig on right now. I’m not sure they shouldn’t just hang on to Harsin for another year or so. They’re just gonna wind up with the same dude with a different name. They’re in a bad, bad spot right now.
