Actually Newt Gingrich went to Tulane in 1965 when it was still in the SEC.

Plus SEC added 2 Red states as well. I think SEC is short for eventual secede. :)

Jim Wright attended Texas (soon to be member) but did not graduate.

Carl Albert graduated from Oklahoma.

Prior to Bankhead from Alabama, Jo Byrns graduated from Vanderbilt, John Garner graduated from Vanderbilt and Howell Cobb from UGA.

Fun trivia, Bankhead was on the first Bama football team. He died while in office as Speaker.

Oh yay. Another "do nothing to rock the boat" guy in the speaker's chair.

But. A SEC state through corruption elected a President that is funding Iran billions of dollars. Directly and through higher oil prices by attacking the U S energy sector and turning a blind eye to Iran oil sales which Trump put embargo’s on.

Long time ago, hard to believe. It’s been almost as long as Aggies last national title!
