Yeah - a lot of those in every city.....as the nation's pre-emeinent Catholic institution, it stands to reason their team would have a nationwide following.

Correct answer

Irish can suck for several decades and they still draw TV ratings. 3 decades of Tide suckage and Auburn would own the state while the Tide would become the next Gophers.

"They got a name for the WINNERS in the world" "They call Alabama the Crimson Tide"

Sounds positive to me. ;D

ND was America's team because they were the only one on TV every weekend.

Every team is on TV every weekend now.

That's no special thing.

There is no America's team.

Recently I heard someone say this about Nebraska. Nebraska was a powerhouse in the 90's because they were one of the few teams on TV all of the time.

Now so many teams are on TV that it has really hurt Nebraska in recruiting.

Ala fans are certainly everywhere. You can find an Ala bar in most cities in the south and up the east coast.

The Ala NYC alumni association is close to 10k folks I'm pretty sure.

I don't think a lot of Bama fans understand people's perception of Bama outside of ALABAMA....trust me, it's not a good one.

And LSU fans are universally regarded for their rationality, intelligence, and reasonable expectations? Come on dude....the fan base who has the LEAST room to talk about the lunatic fringe of Bama fans is the Corn Dogs.

Same is true for most well known football schools, though.

There is no America's Team anymore, and that goes for CFB and NFL.

As someone else mentioned above - I don't think any CFB teams are received that well outside of their home turf. ND is the exception because of the religion aspect. From that perspective, BYU is closer to becoming America's team than Bama.

If BAMA plays FSU, they'll be America's team that day!

BAMA's too special to be America's team. Those Yankees, bland Midwesterners, and left coasters don't deserve to cheer for BAMA.

Not arguing the point of America's team, Irish are the default Catholic team and there are what 70 million Catholics (not counting the illegals who are probably almost all catholic) in America and that represents between 20% and 25% of the total population of the USA.

Religion is on the decline. Mormons and Catholics are struggling to find priests and now you're seeing younger and younger ones.

We aren't calling ourselves America's Team either, and who doesn't love Southern Miss?

Multiple Bama bars in Houston. dogwood in midtown is packed every saturday. Huge Bama banner outside. Upscale bar. I hear the bar in Galeria area is even more massive in attendance. See Bama car stickers often.
