Alabama isn't even Alabama's team... There is no "America's Team" in college football... Even Notre Dame back in the day pulled from America's active non educated Catholic population which was ingrained prior to the upswing in popularity for pro football... when there weren't any pro teams to back. Now there's pro football and Notre Dame, like UT, got their own network and it was their downfall, I believe. People look at those two schools and are repulsed. Alabama is part of the SEC and their success is paired with the success of the SEC. However, I'm pulling against Bama all the way through the playoff... It's just too much for me.

Good question. Lots of positives for Bama and everyone likes a winner.

But, you throw in the tree killer, ramdon shootings after loses (happend once or twice but it gets blown up everytime), and the youtube mom ninja from last years Okla. game, it just takes the shine off being just a Bama fan. You are either a Bama fan or not. No middle ground.

I mean, "Win one for the Gipper" speech vs. "make his arse quit" speech. Both are good, but the first just easier to like more, regardless of the time frame.

Typical bammer crap. No one outside of Alabama cares about bammer.

Damn son- you need to get out of your shack and see the world.

If you think the "Junction Boys" put a good light on the "bear" and your school, then you are smoking some good stuff.

Let your boys play. You need to stop posting.

The simple answer: "No"

Notre Dame got its status because of its affiliation with the Catholic Church and the tribal loyalty many Catholics felt toward ND. Outside the South, the U of Alabama is seen as a haven for barefooted, chaw chewing, Confederate flag waving, grits eating, rednecks. Though well respected in the South and all SEC states, Bama could never be "America's Team."

Harvey Updyke is literally the only lunatic fan anyone outside of the south knows. Rival fans are really the only ones who talk about them. Bama is known as a football school that wins often.

That's why Tosh.0 had a skit making fun of Alabama fans...

Let's not forget the one who placed his scrotal sack on another adult male's neck. How fricking bizarre is that. And he did it in public no less.
Other bama fans were crowding around and reaching for their zippers too. Women were even in there gloating. Tht's just truly sad.

Also, lest we forget, the couple (I think both are guilty) who planned the car-baking death of their 2 year-old son....

I think Kentucky has a better argument to being "America's Team" than Bama anyway. Coach Cal, in just a few seasons, was able to knock Duke and Coach K off their perch and claim an equal or greater national following compared to what Duke has. Bama has a national following less than both.

LSU and Auburn fans have pushed this to 6 pages. Let's see how far we can take it!

That very scientific poll does not speak to the fact that they may or may not be America's team.

Not arguing Bama may be more successful than ND. And I've little doubt they'll be more successful going forward. Different convo.
