I wouldn't panic if I was a SC fan. He can recruit, and coaches up the D.

If UT and UF start to ascend the next couple of years it will take some wind out of Muschamps sails. A&M is going to be a tough out as well year in and year out. Add to the fact that they are adding Bama the next two years, and they have a tough row to hoe the next two years.

If Muschamps continues to improve the roster and find answers on offense, I could see them finding sustained success under Muschamp.

sustained success

At SC that's 7-5 or 8-4. Ken Hatfield got forced out at Clemson after going 32-13-1 in 4 seasons. He'd get a statue in Columbia with that record. That's the difference in SC and other programs. Our fans won't abandon ship to force a change.

The end of year 3 and zero signature wins and a terrible record against Top 25 teams would be enough of a sample size for most big time programs to realize their HC isn't it.
here's a breakdown of home/away of those T25 games and who those teams were. keep in mind that Carolina was ranked once in all of the games.

Home
2016 #9 Texas A&M L 13-24 (McIlwain/Orth QB)
2016 #18 Tennessee W 24-21 (Bentley SEC debut)
2017 #4 Pickens Tech L 10-34
2018 #3 Georgia L 17-41*
2018 #22 Texas A&M L 23-26

Away
2016 #22 Florida L 7-20
2016 #4 Pickens Tech L
2017 #2 Georgia L 10-24
2018 #17 Kentucky L 10-24
2018 #15 Florida L 31-35

Bowl
2016 #25 USF (11-2 record) L 39-46 OT

as pointed out by another Gamecock, 4 of the loses were to Top 5 teams - 2 home, 2 away.

* only game USC was ranked (24th)

2018 TAMU & 2018 UF are the two that really stand out as games that USC let opportunities get away to notch a T25 win.

We all tried to warn all the cocks when he was hired but they didn't listen. Some of them even went as far as saying he would be better than Kirby

Kirby has had significantly more talent than Muschamp in every single position group at UGA in all 3 years.

What point are you trying to make? South Carolina historically is not a "great" football program. Spurrier's recruiting dropped as well during his last 2 years which didn't help with their depth.

No most of us were devastated when he was announced as our new head coach. Our AD had a head start on everyone in his coaching search. Ray Tanner screwed the pooch on that debacle of a search. On the bright side we didnt get Herman.

Muschamp came in and went to work recruiring like weve never seen a USC coach do. Im not saying he landed t star players but he was trying. We are exactly where we normally are. Top 20 recruiting but middle of the pack in the SEC.

Muschamps offense? He is what everyone said he was. His defense? Bend but dont break is not working out with all of the injuries this year and lack of depth.

Coaches can certainly improve. Programs are often too quick to make a change. Rarely does the next guy come in and turn it around immediately. Often times it means starting over.

I think Muschamp is a good fit at SC.

I think he’s a solid middle of the pack SEC HC. 7-5 on average with an occasional great year with some mediocre years mixed in.

I think he's done an ok job. Who do they have outside of Bentley and Samuels? He needs a better OC, and the recruiting needs to pick up a bit, but I don't think USC will be a train wreck under muschamp. Isn't that about as good as they can ask for?

Those standards would equal to our second best coach in history.
