How is Arkansas state hs football?

Mediocre at best.

A lot of blue chippers every year?

You can count them on one hand. Very seldom do you see a blue chipper in Ark. go out of state to play. I'd say 90% of the handful go to UA. Then you see where Ark. typically ends up in the standings so that's pretty good proof that blue chippers in this state are few and far between.

I think we're more of a comatose giant at this point. Possibly even brain dead. We may want to consider pulling the plug.

I am just looking forward to win number nine in a row next year in Arlington. The venue has become a fun Kyle Field North with our fans making up 65% of the crowd. It harkens back to the Baylor days when we would fill up that stadium with jizz.

Recruiting is the problem
They were dependent on Texas and when they left that conference a lot of that talent pool dried up

If Arkansas could lock down the 1 or 2 in state 4 stars every year they would be....

Oh yea. Arkansas puts out very little talent. Getting elite talent is required to win big.

I'm not sure. Historically yes, but I think your situation is eerily similar to Nebraska. Since the conference realignment both schools have lost there place in the pecking order. Nebraska was dominant in the Big 8 not so much in the Big 12 and they have really struggled in the Big 10. Same could be said with Arky after leaving the SWC.

Keep the football-hating Progs from micro-managing the football program, and the hogs will be fine.

Same goes for Tennessee

The Northwest Arkansas MSA is approaching 600,000 which is more than the majority of SEC towns. But the others are closer to bigger cities.

Theoretically we should be able to scratch together a solid (top 20ish) class by recruiting east Texas (UT and A&M can't take them all), Tulsa (same with OU and OSU), Louisiana (LSU), Memphis (UT and Vandy), the Kansas City area and in-state. There are more good players than teams to take them. Those are all within 3-5 hours of campus. Morris actually did a good job recruiting Texas but couldn't coach them for shite.

So was LSU from 1980 until Saban arrived.

So FSU is a resume killing job because Taggart didn't succeed there? Texas because of Charlie Strong? LSU because of Hallman? You could take the worst coaches in each team's history and apply the same principle.

A good coach can win anywhere. Look at James Franklin at Vandy.
