That sounds very familiar. SEC tried to make arky a big game for LSU but it will always be the least exciting for the Tigers.
Arkansas - LSU has a very long history. 70 games total. It made way more sense to put that game on rivalrly week than it does for us and Mizzou - a school we had hardly played at all before they joined the SEC

A rivalry in the making.

Texas and Ole Miss would by the 1-2 choices. After that... enh... we used to have a fun rivalry with Kentucky in basketball but we've been stuck in a weird cycle where only 1 of the 2 programs seems to be good in a given year. We despise all of the North Carolina basketball schools.
Across all sports... Texas, Ole Miss, LSU, and probably Tulsa just based on how much we play them. The SEC is doing everything they can to make A&M and Mizzou big rivals to Arkansas but none of the three schools really gives a damn.

Our boosters also known as the Good Ole Boys Network. They've been setting us back for years with bad decisions.

At one point in the 60s the Ole Miss games were more heated than the Texas games.
Fights occurred in a stadium in one game then the series canceled after one more game. Known as the Tommy Bell game.
They played each other again in the early 80s and both fans would fight each other before the games started.

Arkansas , from OUR side, have lots of "rivals". Many of them have been listed by others.
But WE are NOBODY's #1 rival.

Ark has definitely always treated it as a huge game.
We never cared about LSU until Saban started putting out good teams. When the boot trophy was announced, there was a huge uproar online because it was LSU. The history between the schools was so old that most fans had no idea it existed and it had to be explained. That only changed when after LSU won the SEC and Tennessee was removed as a permanent opponent. Arkansas fans were far more excited about playing Tennessee in the 90s.

Your list is too short. I basically hate 'em all equally.
That's not to say I don't like people from those schools, it's just I absolutely hate who ever we are playing that day

That 7 OT game back in '01 was an instant classic

Arkansas has no team that views them as their rival.
Maybe Arkansas State does, but that's about it.

We don't have a traditional 'rival'. Texas was always a big game when we were both in the SEC.
We have a little extra fun beating Texas, LSU and Ole Miss when we do.

As an LSU fan I have to say I’ve visited just about every sec stadium to watch LSU a few times over the years, and I’ve never seen anything quite like Fayetteville when Arkansas gets the elusive Boot win.
No offense but I think sucking in football has made the base jaded to LSU but it wasn’t long ago the rivalry was intense. I also think a lot of animosity has moved over to Texas in the SEC
Btw with that said NWA is still my favorite road trip besides Athens and Oxford. If I ever move back South it’ll probably be in that area.

In the decades in which "rivalries" were developed... Arkansas was an a strange situation.
They were in the SWC and weren't a geographical or really even a cultural fit.
Even back then Arkansas was a SEC type of state...
But Fayetteville was basically in the geographical footprint of the Big 7/8.
In those days it was Fayetteville was kind of cut off from the rest of Arkansas by the mountains. Radio and TV was mostly the Tulsa market. Tulsa was the #1 place outside the state of Arkansas for grads to land.
And in football for about a 30 year period. the 10 game schedule included the round robin SWC schedule as well as Tulsa and Oklahoma State. As a result, Arkansas didn't really have an opportunity to develop a natural rivalry with any SEC teams or any Big 8 teams because they didn't have a lot of other non conference games available to play one team over and over.
They liked playing OK State and Tulsa because about 80% of the games were played in Arkansas. So they had extra home games for the fans... and that was important when they had two home stadiums.

That is certainly your opinion…

The Arkansas/Ole Miss series had a game in the 60s that involved a riot.
That series had potential but cooled off after 20 of refusing to play each other.

Arkansas and Oklahoma saw no benefit of playing each other.
