Who the hell thought Honey Badger wouldn't ball out?

I had my doubts about the Honey Badger. I didn't think he had the quicks or long end speed to play CB, or enough size to play safety matched up against modern TEs. He's been a great pro.

After watching him struggle against Norwood a taller but not elite WR I thought he would struggle due to his height. There’s just certain physical attributes you can’t overcome. I was wrong.

I didn’t think either would be good nfl players

I thought tyrann was too small, not strong enough, not fast enough and I was worried about his discipline

I thought Henry wouldn’t be able bully nfl guys, I thought his agility and acceleration would hold him back

I was wrong on both. Both are badass players and seem to be great guys

This is a sane comment. I knew both would be good but not straight up ballers. It's hard to ever predict NFL greatness for most players who head to the league.

This.

I thought Henry would end up being a 3rd down/goal line back. Basically a slightly faster FB. I never imagined this level of success.

I thought Mathieu would be a bit undersized, and wondered about discipline too. Guy was one of the most important players for LSU but couldn't stay away from the weed.

Glad to see both find their place in the NFL; both are Pro-Bowlers. Henry almost feels HoF bound if he stays healthy. Don't know about Mathieu; harder for me to gauge what is needed for a Safety to get in these days.

He is extremely generous with his time and money. He is the ultimate team leader for the Chiefs and per Andy Reid is responsible for changing their team culture

Thats high praise coming from someone like Andy Reid

Good for him

Pretty much sums it up for me. I do think Mathieu could be on hall of fame track with a few more great seasons and another sb win or two.

He's definitely on pace for it. In fact, I'd bet that he does end up in the HOF.

Well, let's see. The following describes 2 players who turned out to be good professional players in the sport of football.

A) This player won the Heisman trophy, was an exemplary young man in character and behavior while representing his university.

B) This player was kicked off his university's football team for substance abuse and had a generally bad reputation.

Which one is more surprising to you?

Sounds like you're describing Danny Wuerffel.

No offense to him, but neither of these points garnered much consideration when he was drafted nor prevented him from being cut after a short career as a backup qb.

Bottom line, Henry was thought to have benefited from Bama's O-line and the Mathieu was thought to be undersized with character issues.

I think it's fair to say both have exceeded expectations.

I thought Henry was too slow in hitting the hole to have success in the NFL. I was a tad bit off target.

I thought no NFL team would run an offense around Henry's skillset. He goes to any other team and he's out of the NFL in another couple years.

Figured Henry would have more success than Honey Badger. Both have surprisingly been awesome to watch.

People forget that Tyrann was a Heisman finalist in New York. RG3 ended up winning, but still impressive to be there as a sophomore DB.

They're both studs. I don't think anyone is surprised by either frankly

Both have exceeded my expectations. Honestly, it’s a little ridiculous to project anyone as an All-Pro caliber player. Major props to both of those guys.

I thought Mathieu would be ok, but not nearly as good as he is because of his side and off field issues.

Henry I thought would do great, but I certainly didn't predict Hall of Fame like numbers.

The poster who had an A) B) scenario cracks me up. He basically described Tim Tebow whom everybody knew wouldn’t be successful at the NFL level

Honestly not a terrible comparison. Mathieu felt like a DB without a defined position. Henry felt like a 2-down back who would not be explosive enough to get carries.

Both felt like good athletes who would not flourish because you needed to build a role just for them.
