So what do they do about the gray hairs between the forties? They leave early too but they donate. Dilemma

I'm so glad you were the thirds person to confirm this for me, after I used the word "SEEMS" to start the sentence.

This sounds like obsession and micro management, a strange brew. If the entertainment value of the football program can’t keep fans in the seats, it’s not the students problem.

Coming soon to Bryant-Denny:

Maybe if he would schedule better OOC games and not cheat to get so many 5*s the games would be better and the students would want to watch and stay to the 4th. Now most of the games are boring as hell. It's his own fault for taking the easy way out.

While I respect the hell out of Saban as a coach he's an idiot when it comes to this topic.
Why? I don't have a problem with any school rewarding students that show up and stay to the end of the games. It's especially beneficial for programs that consistently sell out tickets. Now, other people will have a chance to to get in. It's no different than rolling out the red carpet for donors. You give me, I give you.

Straight from the “entertain me now” group.

Its also so hypocritical when Bama (and all schools)schedule terrible teams to play at home. Why the hell should fans be sit to watch a glorified exhibition game?

This is retarded. A university wouldn't be anything without students. Allow them to enjoy their social gathering. The fat sidewalk gumps can pound sand.

Also, how often do saban players even go to a tennis match, or volleyball game etc etc?
So, students are going to be penalized for just leaving early, when his own players dont even show up at the other athlete events? Its great

They aren't getting penalized - they're just not getting rewarded the opportunity to get more football tickets.
So, would be like if Saban's players didn't go to volleyball games and then were way down the list for NCAA Volleyball match tickets. Rationally, if they didn't go to regular season matches they probably don't care much about Volleyball. Would make sense they shouldn't have first shot at "important game" tickets over the kids who did go to regular season stuff.
Seems pretty reasonable to me. People who go to a sport the most get first right of refusal on big game tickets. Much more reasonable than "all seniors get SECCG/Bowl tickets" like when I was there, and then proceeded to sell them. They aren't blacklisting the kids who aren't there, they are rewarding the kids who are.
You can choose to hang out at the stadium with your buds in a blowout, swipe your card and maybe get SECCG tickets, or you can leave and go to Galletes and not have as good a shot. It's literally your choice. You still have the exact same tickets you always had, you just have a new incentive to get something extra.
Bowl/Conference Title tickets based on attendance is 100000% better than based on "University Credit Hours".

I like football as much as the next guy, but when you're a student and it is 56-7 midway through the third quarter, there are better places to be then at the football stadium.
The go to those better places and leave the ticket for someone who wants to be there.
That's kind of the point I think.

What are you talking about? They aren't taking away student seating.

And by the way, they've been doing this sort of thing with all sports for years now. You get points for attending all the sports, they just didn't specifically help you get better football tickets. Now they've basically just amended the points system for football and added an incentive for tickets most kids really do want.

People want certain things to be true so damn bad.
I don't really care about kids staying late in blowouts, but I like the idea that they aren't punished for leaving but are given a carrot to stay. Then it's up to them. Do whatever you want.
We were never even given that carrot opportunity when I was there.

This is why Saban is great. He manages the WHOLE PROGRAM and everyone around it, not just his 85. Don’t get me wrong, he’s batshit insane, but that’s what makes him great.
