It means that the issue isn't necessarily the 3 OOC games, and the games haven't been "compelling" in a purely entertainment sense in a few years, regardless of quality of opponent. Every home game (minus The Citadel) has been comfortably in hand by the start of the 4th quarter for 2 years now.

Seems like Alabama has two FCS games scheduled a season.

We've never had 2 FCS games in the same season. We play a pretty normal P5 team schedule of 1 P5 team, 2 non-P5 and 1 FCS. They've scheduled home and homes starting in a couple years that will help, but again the issue isn't the 3 games vs ULL and Mercer.

It's kids leaving up 17-0 at the half vs Top 20 Mississippi State.

Okay, man. Do you see me bashing Alabama and saying how bad they are for playing weak teams. Understand the context of a conversation before you add meaningless garbage like

Yet they don’t.

Bama fans, are students not allowed to sell their student tickets? I remember making a few bucks doing that back in the day.

Not a Bama fan, but if it is anything like UGA then the tickets are loaded onto your student ID card.

You used to be able to sell your tickets by directly transferring them to another student, but after the 2015 Alabama game, where some upperclassmen didn't get tickets and had to pay quite a bit more to buy them from freshmen, they changed it and you can only donate your ticket back to the Athletic Department, who will load it onto another student's card.

It's not garbage - we don't play 2 FCS teams in the same season and never have.

And it's the school's right to give better fans priority over people who leave at halftime or don't show up until midway through the first quarter.

Yes it's the same system at Bama except you can still transfer or donate it.

Thank you for a rational response, my intentions were not to take shots. When Alabama is beating decent to good teams by 30, and subbing 2nd string in the 3rd quarter; it SEEMS (key word) like they are playing crappy teams all year. That being reinforced when they do play 1 or 2 cupcake teams, like most big programs do.

You can't tell me that it added to the integrity of the conversation. Never seen so many grown men brown nose a college athletics program in which they have no personal affiliation with the success.

Seems to me like it's rewarding your best fans more than penalizing the rest. I think if a guy is a big enough fan to stay all game every game, he probably deserves easier access to tickets.

Students can also lose points if they have a ticket to a football game and don’t use it.

It takes two seconds to donate your ticket, so you should get penalized for this.

Yea - I got no problem with kids who stick around for 4 qtrs getting a better chance at SEC Championship tickets or Playoff tickets.

Totally reasonable.

There's no jealousy involved in thinking that if you pay for a ticket then it's your right to leave whenever you want to.
Obviously they CAN leave whenever they want to, but the University has the right to attempt to distribute their limited number of tickets to the people who will stay and support the team while the game's being played.
The jealousy part I refer to is the fact that most of those same "complainers" from other teams are the ones who always speak negatively about anything pertaining to the University.

So you think the students should be held hostage? This is kind of exactly what bama is doing.

They can transfer their ticket to another student or donate it back to the Athletic Dept. It's all handled through their student ACT cards. If they don't go to a game (get their ACT card swiped at the gate) then they get penalty points.

Now it sounds like they plan to keep the students in the stands through the 4th qtr by offering Loyalty Points. Which will be a pain in the arse to monitor as students will now have to stand in line when leaving the stadium so they can get their ACT card swiped in order to accumulate loyalty pts.

Bama's had a problem for a while, people just lose interest after the 3rd qtr because most home games (even SEC games) are well decided mid-way through the 3rd and fans start leaving.

The it's not like they close the gates. They can leave any time they want.

I’m shocked that Chairman Saban would Institute a coercive Social Credit System for the Gump Youth. Shocked I say !

Forward!

That's a very good logistics point. I'm picturing thousands of kids waiting in line INSIDE Bryant Denny waiting until it's officially the 4th quarter before swiping.

Life is about choosing your priorities. They aren't banning students from buying tickets if they leave early. They are just giving priority to those that don't .
